Hello,
I'm about to install a metal 4pc (mitsu/ralliart) head gasket using ARP head studs. Shoud I use factory torque or different one. Any suggestions?
TIA

Just out of curiosity are you using a stock height head gasket or did you go with the "regular" Mitsu metal headgasket, as those are a lot taller than normal hg, and are used with heads that have been milled down a lot.

As far as torque, use the ARP given specs. The ARP specs are ARP bolt specfic.

I went with the "tall" headgasket, since the head was milled, thanks for suggestion.

I hope you got your block decked. You MUST have a decked block to use the metal headgasket without problems. Trust me on this.

Dont know if its a DSM thing, but I did a metal headgasket on another car (inline 6), without doing anything more than scraping the block by hand. Worked fine.

But, I did make sure the head was brought to the best damn shop I could find for a nice mirror finish.

Do the ARP studs give a torque spec?

the arp studs come with a torque guide based on what you use to torque them, use the moly lube, but you can also use 30 wieght oil. If you use oil the tourque specs are differant. I believe the head studs are arp 190,000 tensile strength and with the moly lube it is 70-80ft/lbs, but check the install instructions to be positive

*I* have the metal head gasket in my car now with the ARP studs, and torque to 100ft/lbs with the Moly ARP Lube.

If you use the oil, torque to about 125ft/lbs for a killer seal.

Don't come screaming if something breaks ;)

YMMV!!!
