When I first wanted this car I was just barely 16. My friend Adam was the owner. He purchased it for $7000. First thing he did was take it to the stereo shop. At which point a pair of JL audio components were installed along with a set of VR 6/9's in the rear. A pioneer premier deck was also installed along with a fancy ass alarm. He also had a diamond competition sub and amp installed but I no longer have those. No big deal. After that he bought a pair of ghey Motegi MR7's in an 18 on gun metal. HEAVY!!!!!!!!! Guess what he did next :chair: Blitz BOV and injen intake to allow him to vent to the atmosphere. Ha 600 dollars later he was venting:tat:. The next move was probably the best one. A Thermal research and development 3 inch exhaust was purchased and installed. Very nice I must say he he he. At this point a boost controller and gauge were installed. The T25 would build to 15 and taper to 10-12psi by redline. It was blown from day one. The fluidyne radiator came next. It always ran a little warm, but the reason it was mandatory was because they tried towing it with a strap by the bumper support. :chair:

He pretty much just drove it after that. Oh he did end up putting a act streetlight flywheel on it along with some cheep clutch. Soon came the carbon fiber hood. He claimed to get a deal on it. It was a VRS so it could not have been cheap. At this point Adam was losing interest in the talon and his love for MR2's grew more and more. Eventually he tried selling it for what he paid. I could not afford it. I tried getting a loan. But nope. So eventually it was sold to a kid that professionally snowboards for the brighton resort team. I did not know the arrangements of the sale, nor did I care. Adam was moving to Arizona and the car was gone.

http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x245/16G_tsi_awd/Picture_0572.jpg

Two years later Adam moves back to Utah. I move in his house, and he says the kid stop giving him money for it. Adam was still the main beneficiary on the title so guess what? We took the other kids name off the title. The kid claimed it was broken down and he was fixing it. Well an hour later the police department called us and told us they had impounded it and found him driving it ;) At this point Adam asked me if I wanted the car. I said yes if it's still worth it. Well we go and get the car from the impound lot. The whole passenger side had mild scrapes from him hitting something. Surprised the mirror was still attached actually. The driver handle was ripped off. Other than that it was not bad. Adam wanted to drive it off the lot so he did. He had just bought a brand new STI. Oh yea! Cobb tuned staged 2 access port and exhaust and intake. COBB claims it to be 350HP. Fun ride home. the talon was smoking though:(

Well the rest the night we clean the shit out of it, check for obvious problems. I was actually running good considering what it was. This when the bad starts it all LOL! We took it out and when Adam was coming to a stop, he free revs it with his foot in on the clutch and guess what it dies. He pops the clutch out in 3rd to start it using the weight of the car. Nothing special right? Well as soon as we accelerate slightly KNOCK, KNOCK. Ended up being a spun rod bearing.

Took me awhile to get the money to pay for a new motor. Came into contact with a guy on here. Said he had a shortblock with low miles Eagle H beam rods and ross pistons. Paypald him the money and got the engine a month later because of some bullshit that was probably just made up in the end. Christmas time was right around the corner so I let it sit til I had time off work. Put the engine on a stand, took off the pan and guess what copper everywhere. Spun all the rod bearings :tat: Anyways I never got my money back.

I still had money coming because work was good so instead of buying supporting goods and all that, I needed another motor. I found a good deal though other guys here in Utah for a JDM motor for an Automatic 7bolt. They had one with low miles looked brand new so guess what I used my Visa :dunno: LOL got the motor a week later and I went to Town on the Bitch!

I had also aquired alot of parts at this point. Picked up a Bastard 20G as well as some BC 272 cams from a local. Fixed a bunch random shit. Sun roof, lower ball joints, CVC's. Lots of large purchases from SBR for thousand dollars :tat: Adds up quick if you go back and look. I have a VERY large stack of mitsubishi receipts. :o got the car all together and guess what. Engine code. No big deal right. Contribution fault problem.... Hmmm compression test... O god! I have a hole with only 100 pounds:chair:. Figured out one of the valves seats on the exhaust had a bad grind on it. And so did one of the exhaust vale across from it. Im 99% mitsu missed the grind to this day. No signs of the head being off prior.:dunno: Only problem now was fix the high idle. I was useing 1 out of 4 used throttle bodies trying to fix it. Swapping parts and such. F it! Just buy one.

At this point I'll admit i was a little discouraged with the car but no stopping now beside the car ran great for having a bad hole:P I new exactly what to do next. Valves, springs & retainers, clean the casting flaws out the exhaust ports, regrind all the valve seats, head studs, and a good gasket. :D
off came the head and once again I used my Visa ;) (I was broke). Ordered some BC SS valves which BTW are black nitride as well even though they dont advertise it. Bought some crower springs from Jake Montegomery (AKA evil~eagle) after he went above and beyond to prove the springs were still good :o THANKS JAKE!!!! I already had some ARP head studs of course but guess what people started stretching them. And I had a Cometic head gasket, but after talking to alot of guys that have very good setups, and are very knowledgeable. I learned a multilayer gasket is not the answer. So I sold those. And but A1 L19 H11 tool steel head studs  and a secret head gasket he he he. Soon after the car was back together. Once again adding to my stack of receipts. And I bought new 2gb headlights and a bumper.

Next I painted those hideous side skirts. And hid those MR7's by painting them to. :o

At this point I tried doing cheeper mods hehe. Started on the fuel system. I went with a bosch 044 pump inline using 8 an SS line and fittings. I return through the EVAP stock line under there :dunno: it's the biggest one. A 6 an fits right on it. Now I have only hard line and SS so I'm good for race gas or whatever. I also use a Barry Grant 8 micron filter before the pump. I regulate fuel pressure using a AeromtiveFPR.

I'm sorting out the cavitation issue still. Doing some finishing touches and getting her ready for inspection :D LMAO! I have a AEM UEGO wideband, DSMlink, GM 3.3 bar MAP, GM IAT, FIC 1050's flowmatched rated at 1116's, and a SBR GT12 (3076R) sitting and waiting for me to insure the car. I dont drive it. Im trying to get the best insurance. I will end up paying more but at least I will be covered heavily.

Ill try and keep this updated!

My bumper and figuring out this fuel problem are my 2 main priorities. I'll have to stop in the shop and get a picture of the bumper. For progress reports :P

Are you patching the holes on the bumper yourself? What did you use?

I cut squares out from the old bumper. Epoxy's them from the backside on to the new bumper. Then I used Fiber form I believe is what it's called. I filled the holes 3 times then moved to a finer smoother compound called dolphin putty. And lots of sanding! I plan on using my old eagle symbol as well. Its gonna lok good!

Looks like I'll have her running again next week. I'm decideing what kind of vacuum lines to go with. I want a test pipe in there for the firdt time I start it with the 3076R. The sound of it should give me instant wood. My flange for my blow off valve is not in the most desirable place. I'm gonna put it in today. I think the 4 inch intake pipe will be right on top of it.

It's crazy. Now that I have an external wastegate, synapse bov and a new turbo my vacuum lines are completely different. And this time no T'ing off stuff for anything. Everything will have it's own boost source to insure proper function.

Next on my list is one piece drive shaft! My shop is right down the street from GRS in salt lake city. They specialize in all kinds of drive shafts. So I'm gonna see if they can fab me one up. probably cost me half as much as a DSS one.

No shit huh! I'm slackin! I have the FMIC and bumper off right now but I'll put it back on and get right on that. No one seems to like my build or have any input.:dunno: Having questions like that motivates me even more. ;)

That is the idea. Push it til shit starts breaking then back it off a lil. I think I'll need water/meth in order to put down that kinda power. Then again I can buy 100 octane almost everywhere here.

I'm trying to decide if my bosch044 pump is good or not. I know I'm not grabbing air but the pump sounds nasty. It's loud and inconsistant buzzing. I'm now feeding it with an intank pump and it still does the same thing. I wonder if the slosh guard is getting emptied to fast. I was thinking about cutting some holes in the bottm that way it could fill easy. I need to go to the gas station I guess and top the tank of. Maybe that will work the air out. Then it will probably be fine.

My return line is the old evaporative emissions line but it still hooks up to the sender like it was stock. The only difference is that I drilled the syphon mechanism with a 1/8th inch drill bit. I was told by multiple good sources that it should be sufficient.

Then I made my own fitting that adapts the stock feed line to a -8an fitting. That way I could hook right up to my -8an line I'm already using.

I'm actually thinking about making some extra adapters for size -6 and -8. Would anybody be interested? I have not thought of a price yet
