1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

This is currently the fourth DSM I have owned. I purchased a 1998 GST 7 years ago (hence the screenname). It was an impulse buy, which I later wished I had waited until I found a GSX. I later owned a 1995 GSX and 1995 Talon TSi AWD and in March of 2007 I bought this car as a shel. Most of the parts came from my 95, but in addition to those I also added a built motor and new turbo setup to the list with the hopes of seeing some 10 second timeslips. Time has only permitted me to bring it to the track once this year, but I do plan on reaching that goal in 2009!

Currently it has ran 11.2 @ 126 with the following parts:

6 Bolt Block
- Manley Turbo Tuff I-beams
- Manley Platinum Pistons
- ARP Main Bolts
- ARP 2000 Rod Bolts
- ACL Tri-Metal Rod and Main Bearings
- Mitsu MLS Head Gasket
- ARP Head Studs

Hey, on that front bumper, do I see a triangle where the 3 diamonds should be in a pic or two? I was looking into buying Talon bumpers for my 1g, but I could only find "knock offs" that had the triangle instead of 3 diamonds....I'm wondering if thats what was on your car in a pic or two....

If so, what mfg did you use? Did you like the quality/fitment/look? Did you have to modify or mess with any "casting" flaws?

I don't see a stock Maf or a GM Maf for that matter. How well does the map sensor work while idling and while cruising? I have a GM 3 bar map sensor sitting in my garage right now I haven't gotten around to putting on yet. Although, I was only planning on using it for WOT tuning I'd still like to hear your feedback on how well it works in those conditions. :)

BTW I <3 your car :eyejack:

You are correct. It is not an OEM bumper. I could not get my hands on an OEM one in time to have my car on the road and a body shopped talked me into taking this one. It does have a triangle shape instead of the diamond shape, but it's not noticeable at all with the OEM emblem in there. I do not know who makes this one since it just came from the body shop, but this is my second knock off bumper and I was extremely unhappy with the first one I bought off of Ebay. The fitment was awful and the bottom and under the headlights sagged a lot.

I have a MAF out of an Evo 8. I just did a really good job of hiding it! I use my GM Map sensor just to log boost in DSM Link.

I love the bronze on white. But really, I like bronze on most colors so I guess I'm biased.

Whoa, when did you move to L-town? You're right up the road from me!

On a side note: How difficult where those Aerocatch hood pins to install? I'm thinking of getting them when I get my new CF hood.

I did not install them myself. I ordered my hood directly from VIS and the received the first couple of hoods from them damaged. When I got one that I was finally going to keep, I definitely wasn't going to be the one to drill into it! I have actually seen a lot of threads on here about these pins, so I'm sure others could give you move information.

Congrats...
I say you post some pics of the black shell :)

You were standing right there behind the chain. lol. Your first pull kind of charred the strap, so we got a piece of something and wrapped it in tin foil and covered the strap so it would deflect the "liquid hot magma" exhaust.

That def. was an interesting trip. Like, Ryan getting in trouble for doing a retard flyby`:chair:

That's a sick GST. And are those 2gA skirts on the black one? lol

My first DSM was a GST. The black one and the current white one are both AWD.

The black GSX does have 2gA sideskirts. It is a 95, but I took the interior and exterior off of a 99 and did the conversion. I had the sideskirts too, but never got around to putting them on and then I ended up selling the car.
