I have APR front lip on my evo 8 and it was on the car when I purchased it. By looking at the underside of it, the lip has seems to have protected the underside of the car pretty well from bumps and other road problems. Sounds like a nub question, but whats the main purpose of this? To force air past the intercooler? I would think since it extends so far under the engine bay it would trap heat. A lot of people seem to think it looks cool, but I am thinking of removing it, unless it has some benefit. I just would like some opinions. Thanks. :dunno:

I have pictures of my evo8 on my myspace page below.

Just for an update I just put a new head on the evo from an 06 MR. I had it fully ported, 1mm oversized valves, crower springs and titanium retainers, Skunk II 272 camshafts, and AEM adjustable camsprokets. I had a previous post on the car overheating. Turned out the old head was warped beyond machining. So, while the engine was apart, it wasnt gonna hurt to beef her up a bit!

Bad link. So, did you switch everything over?
You put a mivec head on a non-mivec car?

...

Really.

Yeah. The head I purchased was out of a Evo9 mr 06. Went right into my Evo8 with no problems. I didnt see much of a difference between the heads when they were side by side, but the car is running really well.

I don't have an Evo, nor do I have much experiance with them, but I'd say that if it appears (you can see dings/scratches) to protect your car, I'd run it. That is, unless your looking for the lightest car possible and you don't feel you need the extra protection...

So you were able to switch a non-Mivec head on, but you don't get lip spoilers?

The lip spoiler is designed to minimize the flow of air under your car, preventing lift and increasing high speed handling and stability.
