Thought I would share my build that I have recently completed, well some what.

I was deciding whether or not to do a step by step build on the car. Yeah I really don't want to do that. So here is a night and day shot of the build.

Here it is for it's first time in the garage. It was pretty much beat to death.

Took a couple hours to tear out the motor, transmission, wiring harnesses, but under all that gunk I knew I could find a nice clean engine bay. It was dying for a little spray job, so that is just what she got!

And here we go Putting it all together! The only parts I have not put on yet are the A1000 fuel pump, it's waiting for the sump, and the 1600 injectors, they are waiting on Link.

Other than that I have been driving her around. It's on a safc2 right now just to have some what of a fuel controller. I don't give her more that part throttle right now just because it's not anywhere near tuned.

Thank you. I'm just waiting on Dsmlink so I can start tuning. I am also trying to see how far and hard I can push the stock drive train.

Nice work! I love a fresh engine bay without all the greasy mess. We need more details on what you used to spray. I'm assuming it's not a rattle can job?

Looks like some good bits you have slected. She should scream but do a proper break in before you beat her.

lilredeclipse

The paint I used was some good ole Dupi-Color High temp RED. You can get it at Autozone. I scrubbed the bay with simple green and washed it down really good. Then I hit it with some basic primer and then the red. I have also done this with my silver car. Those pics are in my gallery.

Before it's first tuning session it is getting an oil change. I have always ran GTX 20W50 with either a mobile 1 filter or a puralator (sp) one.

Parts update.

On the way are:

Quartermaster twin disc setup
fuel lab inline filter.
Rest of the 6an line and fittings for my fuel setup
ngk wires
bpr8es'
STM oil cooler kit
New couplers all around
New T bolt clamps
steel braided clutch line
3" side exhaust is being fabed up.

I'll post up more as I remember. Pic's are coming as soon as parts get here.

Looks nice thus far. Would like to hear some feedback on the Quartermaster clutch. Is the side exhaust gonna be on the bumper or exiting in front of the rear tire? No pics of the internals such as the GRP's? Hope everything works out for ya.

Can't believe I didn't put up any pics of them. Well here you go!

Sitting on the couch the night before the build.

Now about that quartermaster... This is my help me thread I started.
http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209394

It basically came down to the fact that I do not feel safe spacing the transmission 1/4" away from the block for it to not hit the inside of the transmission.

Here is the picture of the pressure plate hitting

Nice pics. You mean you have to space the tranny a 1/4 inch away?!?!?!? I'll have to read the thread ya posted though. How does the exhaust sound? Pretty loud without a muffler? My 1g wasn't too bad running just an O2 housing for a lil while (surprisingly). It was actually quieter than running open dp. I'm wanting to do a side exit like that on a 2g but throw on a Thermal exhaust muffler I have laying around....if it'll fit.

lilredeclipse
01-25-2009, 07:25 PM
The car is just basically my toy that I drive around for fun. The exhaust isn't too loud when the windows up :D .

You want to put on a muffler on a side exhaust?

V8s_are_slow
01-25-2009, 07:28 PM
Well, yeah. Lol. But a Thermal is pretty free flowing as is. Just want it a "lil" bit quieter for when I'm going wot past old people. Lol. This was my last exhaust system I had on a 50 trim.

Sorry for the late updates...

I had a chance to get it to the track
R/T: 1.07
60' 2.409
330 6.728
1/8 9.893
MPH 85.27
1000 12.223
1/4 14.116
MPH 120.44

Basically the story goes: The tranny was junk I couldn't shift it at all. I had to let the RPMs drop to about 4k until I could shift. It spun 1 and 2nd. then around 6k it started spinning again.

fastest time was 14.1 and highest MPH was 123.

I recently installed a new clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, extended slave rod, and a spacer behind the ball in the trans. Also put in the spare trans.

We are making a trip back to the track on the 22nd so lets hope for some more MPH!

lilredeclipse

I also hooked up the catch can and put on the new valve cover for the lines. I was tired of blowing out dip sticks, so let's hope this helps.

I just realized that I spelled that completely wrong haha.

How often do you plan on replacing rod bolts? And why did you step away from the DNP mani?

Not sure how often I'm going to replace them but I do check them when I change the oil. I also check the bearings while I'm in there.

I cracked the tubular mani, It's the only reason I took it off.

Good stuff man. What kind of camera do you use?

Also I like the engine bay, you make me want to paint mines and tuck the wires better :)

It's a Pentax SR 12 megapixel. Nothing special.

Ah I can't believe I didn't put this up. I was able to get on the dyno for just a base line pull while I was down In Jacksonville,FL. Car made 392whp and 336tq.

This was with no tune at all. Timing was anywhere from -4 to 5 deg in the pulls. And the AFR's maxed out at 10.0 from 4k to 8600.

Enjoy

Where at in Jax did you go to get it dynoed? Stage6 or Velocity Trends?

Velocity Trends. Seemed to be more of a honda shop than anything.

kennyjr904
03-10-2009, 06:23 AM
They do a lot of honduh stuff but they will work on anything that is an import. Steve is a good guy though, and he has himself a nice little business going for a guy as young as he is.

lilredeclipse
03-10-2009, 10:29 AM
Yeah it was prety cool when I was there. He let me do some adjustments on a baseline pull. Which he says he never allows. It was a decent sized shop, I guess they just moved into the building not too long ago.

Nice build up! I can't believe 3rd gear isn't useless yet. I have a 14b on 15 psi and i get some spin in 3rd sometimes.

lilredeclipse
03-11-2009, 08:54 AM
At the track it was only sticking because the rpm's droped to about 4k and then the turbo had to build boost back up.

I can spin 3rd on the streets anytime.

03-12-2009, 09:30 PM
Ehh that is a toss up right now. The wife wants to go to the shoot out. But one of our friends from the west coast is going to the E-town meet. And everyone else I know is going to the E-town meet.

Which ever one we go it will be there though.

How's that evo? :D

Sportin' the JMF bling while reppin for us FWD guys woo!

But man, get yourself drag radials and LSD at the very least lol, I am putting my new trans in in a week, hopefully I will actually have a useful 3rd gear again!

Nice build man very prestine. Oh and I couldn't read this thread but I saw you have a stock head cammed with 280's? Are you keeping it stock!??

lilredeclipse
03-24-2009, 12:47 PM
No more FWD :( I found a really tempting project so I pulled the engine and it's going into the new shell. Lil Red is no more guys sorry :(

The head has springs and retainers. But I do plan on a port job and new valves in the future.

Loner
03-24-2009, 01:06 PM
Are you going GSX?

lilredeclipse
03-24-2009, 01:14 PM
AWD yes but its a Talon. I picked up a shell for $450 and it only needed an engine.

I was deciding on that or a pair of slicks for $500. I will post up a thread on her later on.
