La salle Silver Mettalic, the only real reason I bought this DSM (lucky number 8). This build thread is more so for me to keep track of everything that went on in the build process (and is still going) before I forget.

Purchased December 12, 2007. 1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD

First problems arose at pick up of the car, it wouldnt run and was experiencing some typical idle surge. After putting on a different mas I got it home 80 miles away. The FIAV was bad so I blocked it off.

specs of the car at this point according to PO;
FIC 650's, BR20g, apex-i GT fmic, Apex-i N1 exhaust, afc, 2gmaf, swapped in a 7bolt 6bolt lost oil pressure.

Basically how I received the car:

More to come as I try to organize my thoughts/records.

The color of your car is Medium Quartz Metallic.

La Salle Silver Metallic is the "Champagne" color.

Being that you've owned the car for 2 years, you should know this. :dunno:

Thanks Ronnie I wasn't 100% on the color; Medium Quartz Metallic.

The car ran pretty good, that knock off CDM Greddy actually worked fantastic and I never had any issues with it. But it is gone.

Next the issue at hand was the clutch. It wouldnt fully disengage and was acting up. It was said to have a CFDF in it. So next I pulled the trans and installed:
new master
new slave
ss soft line
new fulcrum/pivot ball
new clutch fork
shimmed the fulcrum with one washer
Noticed the slave that was on it had a ridiculously extended rod, made from a bolt...trouble.After ditching that it simply would not go into gear. It was time to weld the clutch pedal assembly.

Shortly after this I replaced the random throttle cable that was in it (from what I have NO idea?!) with a new non cruise cable from SBR. Other random things were changed out like the wiper motor/blades, battery and little junk like that, that adds up quickly $$$. Then it had one major trip to make in June and barely managed it. Engine was acting up and the symptoms made me think crank walk. Long story short:

Pulled the old motor and found it actually had the OEM friction disc with a, atleast painted orange pressure plate. Explains the slipping.

Ordered some new parts:
spec stage 3 6 puck sprung hub
Fidanza aluminum flywheel
Mitsu OEM TOB
Redline shockproof HD fluid
stage 3 chip with all kinds of good stuff
BPR7ES plugs
Valve Cover gasket
MLS head gasket
ARP head studs
ss exhaust manifold studs and gasket
Air Oil Cooler
Oil Filter Housing for Air Oil Cooler, ported
flywheel bolts
all new timing components and water pump

^ If you look in the top left you can see I modified the vertical bracket support so I could tuck the intercooler way back their. Its also a sneak preview to the rest of the work done.
Filled 2 of the motor mounts with polyurethane caulking, works amazing. Also chopped it down on timing side and welded a cap.

6 Bolt was sent out for:
Hot tank, deck, crack check, Hone. New rods pistons (oem), ARP everything, BS removed, painted and sealed back up.

Yes the Greddy is still their un-circulated in this pic. I didnt have time to mount the blitz at this point and the FP fitment is so poor with my setup didnt want to waste time making a recirc hose. lazy?...maybe a little.

AFPR from Import Evolution with SS -6an line. its tucked away in this picture.

Next to address was the faulty fuel lines. Ordered about 12 feet of -6an ss braided and some more fittings from Import Evolution. They run through an SX 10micron fuel filter. Im hoping to soon replace with a small earls inline.

Also the fuel pump assembly needed some work done. TAB fab welded a bung so I could install the an fitting to it.
http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v363/95/72/71802238/n71802238_32276027_7894.jpg

Here you can see the fitting on and seemingly ready to go. But no, the assembly leaked around the flare to the pump (walbro 255) no matter what. So some more modification had to be done. Here you can see what I did to fix that:
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k27/drifte/pump_fix.jpg
After it worked just fine. But with 3 of the 6 studs broken off the tank it leaked fuel at the pump assembly gasket...not cool!

Thanks again. Some progress;
Gas tank needed re-studded for the fuel pump assembly. I found a great new method to doing this that doesn't involve any holes going through the tank and no jb weld.
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k27/drifte/GEDC0125.jpg?t=1234043077
New studs, washers and nuts. Painted the gas tank...of course. My method of doing so in case anyone else has to do this.
Drain the tank and drop the tank, really easy to do. Fill the tank with water let it sit for as long as you can to get all the dangerous fumes out. Water method is preferred by me as if I do happen to spark something its put out anyway. Next use something like ductape to cover the opening where the fuel pump assembly was. Then grind down the studs you want to replace. I used a mac drill bit (forget the size but its the same size as the stock studs) and drill out the old stud being careful to stop as soon as your through the flange and not go into the tank. Then I took a much larger drill bit and hogged out a bit to allow for the weld (want a good seal right?).
http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2294/95/72/71802238/n71802238_32558063_5015.jpg
Take some shiny new 5mm studs from your parts store (i think it was 5mm...) and stick the head in the vice and chop it off. Now you have studs! Stick the side chopped down into the new hole. Perfect fit. Here I cranked up the voltage on the welder and made small be well penetrated welds. Tricky to ground the stud and keep it sitting just right, but if you drilled the holes right its not to hard. Grind down any weld mistakes (it happens). Fit your assembly, if it works, thoroughly drain the tank and dry it. Put it back in the car and your set. I did have to replace one of the vent hoses when doing this as it was rotted.

While the tank was out I found it an excellent opportunity to change the rear diff fluid! Out with, oh just a little fluid came out...and metal shavings all over the plug...
And in with the hopefully magical miracle worker: Redline HD shockproof
If paint wasnt so expensive the whole underbody would be done, so for now its just in undercoat.
