Copper head gasket wouldn't seal so I scrapped it. I was going to O-Ring the head but no machine in my area would do it.

My old setup from back in 2006. Not very streetable but fun.

My current setup still in the works, still need to make the intercooler piping. The top mount is a tight fit.

Ive been in the process of a mini restore of this car.

Started with the fuel tank.

Went from this
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/020.jpg
To this
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/001-24.jpg

Then I started on the rear suspension. Most of the bushings where shot and a couple of the ball joints were bad too. I went to the dealer and they said the rear ball joints are not serviceable. After some time on the internet doing research I found that the front ball joints could be used in the rear.

Started with this rusty pile.

Why do you have a non-awd, awd chassi with a 4g37?

4g63tcrazy
05-12-2009, 06:55 PM
WOW. That is really wierd.. Do you realise you're car is/was an AWD car? I wish I looked down and found that out about my FWD! If I were you, I'd put it back to AWD in a heart beat!

redline6k
05-12-2009, 07:01 PM
I was looking for a new shell and I couldn't find any FWD's in good condition or in my price range. I was on craigslist one day and found a 92 eagle talon tsi awd auto for $400. It wouldn't start it needed a ecu. So I put a ecu in it drove it for the summer. Then in the winter I parted it out maybe double what I payed for it parting it out. Now its the new home for my 4G37

Sean485
05-12-2009, 07:03 PM
Wow, nothing personal... but thats kind of a waste of an awd chassi. If you are dead set on the 4g37 why not try and find a flywheel that will bolt to the '37 crank and work with the awd bell housing and keep the car awd?

I don't see it as a waste because I'm restoring a AWD chassis and saved it from being junked, because the guy I but it from was gonna junk it the week I bought it. So maybe if one day I find a clean fwd shell ill put the 4G37 in the FWD and put one of my 4G63's in the AWD.

Uh... totally run that as a 1.8 AWD! Geeze, if you have the money for custom pistons for that motor, you might as well throw some at a custom flywheel and make use of that AWD. Any sound clips?

Got the fuel system done this weekend -6AN feed and return line. Don't have pics of the lines installed since its hard to get a good shot.

SS braided line and black -6AN fittings. Along with some new tools I bought to keep my fittings looking nice.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/001-28.jpg

The must need tools if you going to do a lot a AN work.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y218/redline6k/003-22.jpg

I got the exhaust on just need to weld a hanger on the muffler but the rain put a stop to that. I'll get that done when the weather clears up. I love the look of the muffler looks kinda stock.

Do you have any times AT ALL for the previous set-up? You claim worlds fastest 4G37, but no times anywhere? Not being a dick, just curious. I hate when people claim to be the fastest, but put no times, mph, or horsepower numbers up.

On topic, the build looks awesome, keep up the good work.

Sean485

Why didn't you remove all the lines and such from the engine bay before spraying? It looks like a good paint job but its sloppy with the overspray everywhere IMO.

Hockey Pucks FTW!!!

I was originally going to go with Avid Racing Front and rear mounts. After getting a quote of $225 I scraped that idea. I had some hockey pucks laying around and they fit perfectly.

The rear diff has to stay in there because it supports the rear suspension.

Well after 3 days of non stop working on the car. I got quite a bit of work done on the car. Some of the wiring took longer then expected but its done right so that's all that matters. Got all the underhood stuff done except for the vaccum hoses, powersteering belt, hose and coolant overflow. Next weeks project is to get the interior all done and mount the megasquirt ecu and relay board. Hopefully I will firing it up soon. A few pics of the almost finished engine bay. I'm thinking about adding a EVO style hood vent over the turbo to help lower under hood temps.
