Well I finally made it to the track this friday. It was my first time. I was hoping to pull off a 14.5 with my simple mods and 2945 pound 97 turbo FWD.
FIRST run: realized that the time between the staging lights to green is shorter than I expected, bogged it, spun in first and ended up with a poopy 15.6
SECOND run: ready at the light 2500-3000rpms. got a pretty good launch but 15psi came along and I said goodbye to traction. locked up in 2nd......14.8@96mph.
THIRD run: get ready for this one. In this order..spun 1st grinding into 2nd still spinning...F***, I gave up and plopped it into 5th.....21.2@49mph...yippee!
Bye the way, Kentucky Durby horses runa 20 sec 1/4 mile.
Maybe I'll better luck next time.

I did real sh!ty for my first time to. I did a 14.3 and a 14.0. I got a woppin 2.3 60ft........WITH A AWD!! Maybe just being nervous and not knowing how fast the lights drop after you stage. The best is when a f'in dragster is in the lane next to you and the only thing you hear, is your ear drums blowin though you head...I hate that. Later ,

I told myself that I would only run once just because it is a daily driven like most of us and the crankwalk thing but we won't get into that. It is addicting though.
There what I thought was a turbo prelude there but the spooling sound turned out to be a nonturbo prelude with a leaking header...hehehe
Hey TomsTSI...what mods did you have with the 14.0 run? Because thats not too bad.

I had all the mods I have in my sig except the clutch and the ported 95 mani. I had everything in it, subs, full tank of gas, spare, even had the high flow cat on. not very prepared :(. I have some other issues that I need to find cause I only pulled like a 96mph. I'm usually just looking at the mph to tell what kind of gains I made anyway. But I think I'm going tommorrow to island dragway in the nice and cool 50 degree weather. If i it doesn't run right I'm jumping it in the hudson river. Later,
Tom

hahah turbo=good.....my car is faster then yours after all! eheh. Learn how to launch your car and maybe next time u can actually compete against the American muscle. Camaro Onws ya till then! :) btw i got to learn how to launch also, i know ican easly get high 13s with that mph! Lets go up to the track on Friday (last night it wil be open before it closes for winter).

Its NOT hard to launch an automatic camaro. Speaking of automatics, high 13s won't happen unless you do something else to your car. an automatic tranny doesn't do it's best at 14.1, 14.2 and then all of a sudden drop to 13.9.
I'll let you borrow my T25 turbo and you might make it into the 13s! HAHAHAHAHA!

i think you are just mad cause your "sleeper" never woke up at the track. 14.89 @95.03 is kinda pathetic for a moded eclipse(intake, exhaust, no seats, spare tire, no jack blahblahblah...) :)
well...its harder then u might think...my car makes more torque at idle then yours at peak LOL. AND IWILL BET U $$$ THAT IT WILL GO 13.9X on friday if we go. You were wrong once arealdy by sayin my car wont run low 14s, and looked what happened last friday... with that MPH and the 60' i can easly get into 13s with a good launch. All i need to do is lower the pressure to 20psi (previous run at 27psi = 2.188) and that will shave of .1 of my 60' and that equals 13.9x for me baby. I think i know little bit more about camaros then u, so do you homework before u say something like that again :)!

It is hard though to get a 97 gst with some mods that slow Turbo=good. I don't know what you did, but I think you should un do it. It could be that it is you first time at the track and just didn't drive good. The other mistake is that you didn't get an AWD. I suggest you get a MBC right away. Also, i know that dsm's are fast and become very fast(im getting there)yet so can camaros. There are many stories out there of "spanking" a camaro. The camaro is different than the mustang. The 93 and up of z28's can beat new mustang gt's. Be careful about thinking that they are some slow redneck car. ps: ive been to the track with many cars and the camaro with the lower tire pressure could get into the high 13's

Damn it I had my first real track experience last night... needless to say it sucked @$$. My best was a 14.2 @ crap mph. Well, I could feel my stock clutch slip a lot, and "I think it's my knock sensor" (haha gsxalex), but I could fell when it came on and my timing retarded(right alex:)) I ran 19 psi on 92 octane... need I say more?

Hey Mike I don't think that you have anything to complain about. Taking into account that the 14.2 was your first 1/4 mile run ever, and that you only got to run 3 times. Also u guys did get kinda screwed over at the light on the second launch (cuz of the guy that took forever to get off of the track).

Did u run the 14.2 on a stock turbo?
If not what kinda turbo do u have?

Man I am supposed to be in the 13's... I think it's my knock sensor coming on and a stock clutch. Oh and by the way I have a 14b, not the t-25, that thing is weak.

supasaint69z28...
lol, i think your our new dsm god. what happened did you get kicked off the camaro board or what?? you must sit at home and wait for turbo=good and 91lasert to post so you can come on here and rip them up and cut on them about thier cars cause your like a tenth faster. i guess it kinda hurts knowing that your car(big ol' 5.7 ltr v8) is in the same et time frame as a couple of basically stock 2.0ltr japanese 4 cylinders(can't tell your camaro buddies that one huh).that just shows how good american muscle is. are you guys all friends or what?? i have read all of your posts and they have all been nothing but cuts and put down's on turbo=good and 91lasert. grow up dude and get a life. you get real excited when you see turbo=good and 91lasert's names pop up at the bottom of the main page under "currently active members" don't you?? if you keep up this negativity i don't think you will be able to post here much longer. if you have something good to add then by all means participate, if not please leave!!!

Hey 4npower how did u know ! I wet my freakin pants ever time I see their name come up!anyways.. American muscle is doing pretty damn good since a bone stock Ls1 Camaro can hit low 13s and there are few that got high 12s stock. And about Turbo and LazerT. They always make fun of my Z gettin smoked be their DSMs but it never happens so i am tired of the shit talkin and I am goin to race em both this week and post the video of a "Stock" Camaro vs. "slightly moded" 97 GST and a "Slightly moded" 91 LAzer Turbo, thats if they want to Race.
p.s what do u mean by "couple of basically stock 2.0ltr japanese 4 cylinders" cause i never heard about basically stock DSM goin faster then 14.5. Maybe u have different definition of "basically stock" Sorry about the trash talkin ill try to calm down :) lol.

FIRST run: realized that the time between the staging lights to green is shorter than I expected, bogged it, spun in first and ended up with a poopy 15.6There is no need to try and cut a good light on your first couple trips to the track. Who cares about RT at this stage of the game? I would just concentrate on hooking up for now, IMHO. Damn, you FWD guys have enough to worry about. I'd learn how to get the sucker moving first, then worry about the tree. :)

That's even what I shoulda done Whoated... I wanted to get a good RT, and missed my revlimiter on my msd once because I wasnt ready(that one didn't count alex)hahaha...oh and I bogged the heck out of it.

This just in...I don't want to tell to much of the story since its really SupaSaints and 91LaserT story. All three of us have raced eachother many times in the past SupaSaint, you know that. Anyways Supa vs 91LaserT....took atleast a 5 races to get it threw to the Z28...91LaserT is faster. I'm sure either one of them can give a more detailed story.
Cool thing is 91LaserT has not spent a dime on parts: no muffler, no cat, cone filter off his past Laser, uh thats about it.
Next time I race at the track I'll go for the best run and won't worry about RT.
SupaSaint69Z28
11-22-2000, 07:55 PM
Yup.
Me and 91LaserT went at it last night and he beat me by a 1 car from 60-110mph. We did that few times and the outcome was the same every time. He was pulling away very slowly at first and past 100 i would start to catch up but he always stoped at 110 so i never had a chance to catch up. i am not goin to make any excuses, His car was faster that night period. I am goin to race him on firday and see what the outcome will be that time :) ill be sure to post the details.
