14K without ttl but shit I think the cheapest Evo I have seen yet not ragged out. The owner some of you guys might know. Victor owner of BVP out of Orlando. Pretty sweet. Got to see the EvoX and we talked for a good while.
I should be picking her up this Wednesday if I can talk my higher ups(Navy) into letting me go down there.

Yeah. I hope that I didnt know the previous owner before Victor. Carfaxed it and it was a repo before he picked it up. Drives real strong though so I think I am good. The meth kit I have will eventually make it on the car and I will get it retuned and try to keep it a little cleaner.

Probably just changing a couple of things. I want to see how the RPF1's in hyperblack look, all hard piping, and a couple of small things. I might put my meth kit on it after I "trust" it and after the gst is running.

Bought it today. Paid 15,190 all together. Also I hate Mitsubishis'. In the first 3 hours of owning the car I drove it to get food in Orlando, drove back to Jax and when I was coming off the exit the clutch went to the floor. Yeah. Got it registered on base barely and then I couldn't get it past the first light past security. Finally got it in gear and pulled into the Commisary parking lot. Found the hard line from the slave cracked. WTF. Thank god for a friend that came through with a Goodridge braided line. I owe him alot for that. Shifts good now. Now I am happy again and dirty.

Tax and Plate. Orlando is 6.6% but Jax is 7% so I had to pay Jax tax since I am stationed there. Even though it broke down and left me dry I am still happy. I need a confidence ride before I drive to IL Tuesday or Wednesday.

I stationed in Jacksonville, FL. so not yet. When I am back I might head there to spectate but that is all. I dont know if I want to drive the car all the way up there without changing out the clutch, and tob. I am kind of half and half on driving it next week up there to visit family.

Moderately modded evo / well maintained / DD = no problems.
I do it every day. It's also why I run a 3076R and not a 35R HTA RED PURPLE GREEN nuclear phantasmo crazy horse turbo. I am still on the stock block and head aside from cams and I drive this car every single day. Summer, winter, rain, snow, etc.
I run 30psi on meth 93 oct in the summer and 25-26psi and meth in the winter without so much as a hiccup.
Take the 42R and shelf that stupid fucking idea before you even waste electrons firing between synapses... No FWD car is worth building that big without real competitive racing intentions. Period.
In fact, you should probably sell the FWD now and save yourself the time of doing it in 6 months. I did. I dumped $6000 into an engine and turbo for a FWD car and drove it twice after I bought the evo. I'm just saving you time.

Of the HDR lip? I should take some this week. I really for the life of me dont want to give up on the GST. If the Evo was sold I would have picked up a truck or a older classic and built the ever living shit out of it. I always like unique builds. I thought GT42 powered pumpgas/meth fwd's were far and few so I was going to keep it legal and drive it after finishing but to save money have nixed the idea. We'll see though. The acumulation of parts is getting bigger.

Get on MMR (Manheim Auto Auction), they are not going through the sale for anywhere near 10K. They still bring more than that at the sale (wholesale auto auction) for a decent car with mile under 70K.
OP, USAA freaks out when you give them the VIN (I ASSume you have USAA), how was the ins. rates, lol.
Jk's97DSM
05-06-2009, 10:30 PM
No I dont have USAA yet. I am paying a little bit more than the DSM around $210ish a month. Yeah I know. I turn 25 this July so that will lower it.
Alright back on topic. For the "deal" I got there are some fugored things like I said.
SO FAR
2 Wheel Studs
All the lugs(Acorn style on stock rims dont work stupid fuck)
Sparkplugs(Bad for a "tuned" car) I used to change the GST's all the time
Serpentine belt(Missing a whole rib litterally) inboard on the alternator and outboard on the front
All drivetrain fluid changed at TTP today. Transfer case good. Rear diff good. Tranny fluid garbage. Almost factory it looked like.
All new tires. 4 missmatched tires on a very expensive AWD system is a no no. Especially when the passenger rear was a 225 and the rest 235. Again stupid fuck.
Now the tune. After the clutch line broke after 3 hours of owning the car I didnt trust anything Victor said so I had Scott at TTP cook something up.
Baseline tune from whoever was 285whp. Far from the 330whp I was told of. About an hour of actually tuning the car on the dyno I ended up with 342whp, 351 corrected and like 320ish lb ft. Now I am happy. Also had them install a ZT2 while I was there with the 5 bar map sensor so I can see if I am getting lean. 11.5 across the board WOT in boost.
Further plans include Injen hard pipe kit with the intake, changing the low t cover and getting the clear top. Changing the timing belt. O2 housing and manifold. And definitely a clutch. I actually think I felt it slip on the way back on the highway WOT. I think that should be all. Ill try and get pictures tomorrow for you ASMO.
Asmodeus
05-06-2009, 11:23 PM
I can believe the clutch slipping when you mysteriously "find" 60hp in someone's neglect / inability to tune and maintain a vehicle.
Don't worry, this is completely typical with these kinds of cars. Especially those being sold.
Jk's97DSM
05-07-2009, 06:08 PM
At least Victor told me the first thing he would do would be a clutch. I figure if I bleed it again I could get some more grip back. Probably a clutch and t-case rebuild is right up the alley in the next couple of months. I figured a little whine is normal but again dont trust it when I have the money right now to get it rebuilt bigger, better, stronger and have a 5 day turnaround.

Car looks great sans / faded pink ass calipers. Send those the fuck out to get PC'ed!
Two things-
1. Take the restrictor out of the bottom of the slave. That will help the "fade in" effect when you let out the clutch and hammer the gas. The restrictor doesn't allow for a quick change and still "kinda" slips the clutch every time you do this. On a dying clutch more slipping just means its going to die faster. Do this when you bleed it again. Do NOT do this if you do not know how to drive... or you will be rebuilding expensive drive train parts.
2. When you *think* you are done bleeding the slave / clutch. Give the brakes a once around. If you popped the line and fluid escaped air could have easily been sucked back in, and / or drawn in when you hit the brakes as it shares a reservoir. It is worth checking.

lmfao at asmo's super nuclear pahntasmo turbo statement, although he is very right.
As a comparison i bought my 03 VIII for 14.6k last year with 52k on the clock and a few mods. Exedy Twin, reflash, carbon hood, ect
Enjoy it and treat her well. Also...do yourself a favor. Stop sinking money into your dsm. GEt it running asap and either drive it or sell it. Which i'm sure you'll rarely drive now that you've got the evo. Only reason i still drive mine is i still have to for work purposes.(evo's currently under surgery) Otherwise i just change the oil and put gas in it. Hood hasn't been opened.

I'm sorry weather seal on an evo is just gayer than aids. The shit is like honda kids that don't have $12 to put gas in their car kind of mod. I didn't realize epic fagdom had spread so quickly into the evo market. I don't really look in the body section on evoM. I tend to stay ONLY in the ecuflash forum. As the rest of evoM can suck a dirty dick, while playing hop scotch in used needles. That site is horrible, and so is 90% of its user base. Come to think of it, it doesn't surprise me at all. With all the bitching, whining, hand out seeking cry baby broke asses that frequent the place... no actually it seems completely appropriate.
Sad.

You liked it til you found out it was just $30. Trust me Jacksonville roads are unforgiving. Uneven, potholed, gravel patched, ghetto streets that all my cars have seen can deter somebody from putting any real money into the body like the DSM. In the first 2 weeks of getting that thing painted I had 4-5 dings, and my car was keyed down the driver side and the hood had deep gashed. Then I backed out of a nice house and the hump into the driveway was about a 1/2/ to 3/4 higher than the road and thus describes the primer bumper.

Asmodeus
05-22-2009, 02:49 PM
I run BG synchroshift 2 And heavy weight shock proof. 2/1 ratio.
There's nothing wrong with redline. It keeps things from going POOF chinga chinga... when you beat on the car mercilessly in the hot.
However... you can drive around all day in normal mode without getting HWSP up to a temperature that is will actually be conducive to shifting. I normally have to nail it once or twice to get some heat in there to be able to shift with the speed and ease of the stock fluids. And that's a 2/1 ratio with the super thin BG. (Which I also don't recommend by itself either - as it is... too thin.)
I ran mobil 1 in the DSM for a long time. That tranny lasted nearly 200k
I will probably switch HWSP out for LWSP as a thickener in the winter. The HWSP was rough shifting all winter. It's nice now that is has warmed up though.
