My car is my DD and will see the drag strip occasionally. To start, I thinking about going with the Works SS-1 with the 1.2" drop front, .9" rear springs and rear sway bar. How does lowering an Evo affect camber? I know there are 2 camber settings up front, but will I need camber plates after lowering? I will be doing the alignment myself and don't want to much neg camber just slightly more neg or close to stock.

which rims are the SS-1?
is that drop on springs or coilovers?
the lower you drop your car the more "natural" negative camber is added.
you typically dont need camber plates. they're usually needed for people who run agressive camber, who need ot adjust their camber frequently, or who race and need to get rid of the soft top mounts

SS-1 (http://www.worksevo.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=70)
It's just springs. They kit their stuff. Works makes good stuff. Real good stuff. If you don't already have their TB shaft seals order them while you are getting stuff shipped in from Works. Stock evo shaft seals start leaking around 8psi. (I'm not kidding)
I went a slightly different route.

Being that I have an RS. I'm stuck with stock KYB's. Since they blew up - I bought Bilstein HD's. And went with the GTWorx springs. Talk to Smike Evo if you have any questions why.
Being that you have an MR. You'd be silly not to get your hands on a set of these and go this route too. These springs (or the swift springs) are the right choice for a direct replacement spring meant to work specifically on an evo, with bilsteins.
Works makes good stuff. But this is better.

I am not dead set on Works, and actually did look into the GTWorx springs. I will do some more research on the GTWorx. Do you know what the drop is on those?

They are more conservative than the Swift R springs. But more aggressive than the Swift Sports.

MR SWIFT's

^^^ Those are probably another good option to consider since you have an MR.
Seriously, if you have an account on evoM talk to Smike Evo. He'll point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the links, I will check out those Swifts. On a side note, my OpenPort cable arrived on Monday and I have been working on the tephra v5.10 rom. I am really liking ecu flash.

Being an 05 (96940011) I stopped at the cel/valet/nlts rom. I don't want to port over to the 96530006 because of issues... people seem to have them. I don't want them.
I use ecuflash for the bulk of the tuning but I have maft pro running its speed density deal. I also run enough meth to solve anything that would pop up under boost. So I don't really need map switching.

I went with the tephra rom(88590015) mainly for knock cel and nlts and 1/2 byte load. I might use map switching when I go meth inj in the future for a failsafe map. I am ordering a wideband today so I can get down to tuning this thing. So far all I have done is set up nlts, knock cel, made a new mivec map, and pulled a little timing to rid knock. The car was tuned before I bought it, but it is rich and the timing is pretty high.

You won't need a second map for meth. Just don't be a vag when it comes to nozzle selection. Go big. I spray 100% by 22psi on an M14. If you're keeping the stock turbo take like an M8.
It won't knock unless you're trying to make it knock. If you solder connections and keep the tank full it won't fail either. Well, if you buy a good kit anyway.

Coming back to tell you I got the GTWorx springs on with the Bilstein HD's.
It's flippin' awesome. Car has never been pointy-er. No more twitchy bullshit, just point it where you want and turn. I don't drive on the limit, and I'm no road / autocross racer. But I live in PA... and we have some nice narrow back roads that I can get pretty serious on. The car feels much more capable. Period.
Extremely better than it was. And boosts confidence since I'm no longer playing around with stock turbo / bolt ons power... I have to be a lot more careful about throttling in, or out of a turn.

Where's the pics? I am leaning towards the Swifts at the moment for a little more drop.

You should be. They are specifically made for your MR Bilstein struts. Buy the SWIFT's. It's probably one of the best evo springs, if not THE best standard spring / strut combo available.
Pics, um, go look at a stock Evo. GTWorx are only 1/2 3/4 down. lol! Which means I no longer drag every small wild animal I hit with me for 200 miles until it's sanded away by the road.
Don't ever buy Tein S-Techs... ever ever ever. Well I have some for sale, you can buy those, but just don't put them on your car.
lol!

Most likely will end up buying Swifts. Lately I have been focusing on tuning since I got my wideband installed. I got the afr lined out where I want it, now just need to work on the timing and mivec. Overall the car feels strong, I ran a 8.35@83 on a weak 1.85 60' today in the 1/8. If you wouldn't mind looking at some logs I'll post them.

Turn lean spool off if you haven't already. Life will get easier.

I've seen the GTWorx springs...i was actually going to be a spring tester but they decided to keep it local or something.
when i recommend springs to people, i say Swifts or GTWorx. but it depends on what they want. if they want handling, i say those two. if they want something that drops a little more, i say Espelir GT or Tanabe GF210
good luck

I hate to say it but my evo had tein s techs when i bought it and i'd def like to swap them out but haven't and suprisingly then have done pretty good.
Since he mentioned occasional drag racing they held up to 1.6x's on street tires and have supported many 1.5x's on the current tire w/ over 550hp/430tq.
I'm really wanting to try out some Eibach's as i don't care for how low the rear of my car sits w/ the teins
