Hi Everyone,
I'm Jason Barr, I'm 23, and I've owned a DSM for about 5 years. I was really into it for about the first year, then I drifted away from the whole "car scene" for about 3 years. Now, ever since I bought a new set of tires for my DSM, I cant keep my mind off of what I'm going to do next.
My car is a 1990 TSi AWD (pop-ups FTW...) and has a few small mods (bigger fuel pump, boost controller, turbo-back exhaust, 6000k HID's) but nothing too major.
I'm not sure if some of you might remember my brother, his forum name was WombatTSi (or something similar, not sure if he posted here though) and he had a talon with a bunch of stuff done to it. It had a 4g63 stroked to 2.3L, FP3065 turbo, kinetic racing front mount, etc etc.
ANYWAY, the whole point of this post was to introduce myself, but also to find out who put a note on my windshield! The note was left a while ago, maybe 3-5 months or so, and it was left on my car at work in Marysville, WA. I work at an aerospace company called C&D Zodiac. The note said something about a local DSM meet, and listed a website; I'm pretty sure it was this one.
Anyway, I look forward to posting more and maybe meeting you folks in the future!

the car is running good! (knock on wood....)
It actually feels a lot faster than it should be from what I've put on it. When I bought the car, the guy told me it had just had a full top-end rebuild about 5,000 miles previously. I haven't pulled the valvecover, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have aftermarket cams in it. The guy I bought it from only owned it for about a month, he found out he had to move and decided to sell it, so he didn't really know anything about it. I can tell that the guy who had the engine work done had a few aftermarket things in the car, because I've found a few non-factory wiring harnesses where things used to plug in that are no longer there. Also, it has the slight lope of aftermarket cams at idle, and I've verified that there are no vac leaks or anything else that would cause an idle like that. It's not like a rough idle, like a car that isn't running right. It sounds like a mild cam idle, but I could be totally wrong. I want to pull the valvecover to change the gasket and give it a good cleaning anyway, so I guess I'll find out soon. From what I can see just shining a flashlight into the oil fill hole, everything looks brand new.
It had a CFDF clutch in it when I got it, but the throwout bearing exploded and at the time I just needed a car that ran well, so I just put a factory clutch in it. In third gear when the turbo spools all the way, I can feel the clutch slipping a bit, which I wouldn't think would happen with only a few mods.
But again, it could just be me being extra hopeful. Haha... I guess I'll find out when I tear into it.
My next plans are: DSMLink, FMIC, MHI evoIII 16g and some bigger injectors. Oh and a MAFT and blow-through GM mass air sensor.
And as far as forgetting about the community, I think I'll stick around this time!! I typed in the name and password that I use for all my forums, and I realized that I had actually registered here a few years back but never actually posted!! :chair:

It's not much to look at right now... It has mitsubishi paint cancer all over it (bubbling clear coat).
Hey I have a question though, How can I tell which rear diff I have? I know the "four bolt" is the good one, but is there a certain year range which had the four bolt or do I just have to crawl under there and look?

Here are a few pics... I dont have any really good pictures of it yet, because the outside of the car has never looked good enough for me to want to take good pics... hopefully I'll get it painted within the next year or so.
The AWD talon in it's natural element.... SNOW! (note to self: next time we get two weeks of snow, charge people for transportation. My talon was the only car that could even move in my whole neighborhood)

Before I had my HID's.... it's amazing how snow makes your headlights look really bright.
