Can 2 15" subs fit in a 1G Eclipse? The required airspace for the RF HX2s is 2.5 cu. ft. each.(5 total)
Would I need to toss the spare tire?

Does anyone have two 15s in their DSM? I don't have the car yet, but I wanted to know if I needed to get 12's and sell my stuff I have now.

Thanks

I've got 2 12's in mine. They're ported in a 6 cuft box(3 ea.). I have to keep the spare in the garage though. Needed to fibreglass too. Quite the fun project - even have AutoCAD dwg's.
Just e-mail me if you need any help or more info

I'll be putting 2 15" Hurricane Power Strokes in my 1G AWD soon. They will be in a 6 Cu/ft box ported facing the front of the car. When I make the box, I'll post pics and directions, and I am ditching my spare too. They will be powered by a Earthquake PHD2, or maybe two, who knows.

Yeah they'll fit. 2 15's will be fun for making puss come out your ears.
DSM's have a very small amount of airspace inside, so be prepared.
anyhoo, FWD or AWD?
this makes a very big difference in rear hatch space. You could find a way to fit them in either car, but in AWD you will need to be more creative than the big rectangular box you could potentially use in a FWD.
have fun.

They will be in an AWD, but I am unsure weather it will be a 1G or an older 2G(1995?). Is the hatch space different between the two?

What size is the stock alternator? I know 91TalonAWD will have to upgrade even if he is using only 1 PHD2, unless the stock alt. is more than 150 amps?
Right now I have a JBL 1200.1(mono to 2 HX2 15's and a RF 200a4(bridged to JL 6.5" components). Will 6.5" Components fit in the doors? Or are there 5.25" openings for the doors?

bad news tanner. the stock alt. is only 75 amps. it sucks.

Where can I purcase a high output alternator?
http://www.mralternator.com has good prices for other cars, but no DSMs.

Yea, I am upgrading my alternator, probably to a Ohio Generator, only heard good things about them, along with a cap or two.

How much for the Ohio Generator alt.? What amperage?
Do you have to custom mount it, or is it a direct bolt-on?
Thanks.

There was a used 180 amp Ohio generator on one of my forums for a 93 and it was a direct bolt on. He paid $400 and wanted $200 for it.

actually, if you face the box towards the rear (speakers facing the trunk) it will sound louder inside the car because the waves will bounce back, its makes a huge difference, try it! well it did with me, i've got 2 12" getting 300each.. hehe, it shakes my eclipse so bad i cant use the mirrors ;p

tanner261; 5.25 & 6 will fit in the door, i doubt 6.5 will, i have 6" eclipse's in mine, and they fit..

i've got two audiobahn aw1200's in a 4ft box and kept the spare and still have room left. so if you are willing to get creative then there's noreason that they shouldn't fit. as far as turning the speakers backwards, it does help but i had a set of cheapo pioneer 350watt 10's in a band pass that loosened the lower seal on my hatch glass so i personally am not willing to let my talon leak for a few db gain.

For all you that have 4cu ft or more in your 1g awd is there anyplace i can look at some pics of it? I am having a hard time trying to find out where to get 4cu ft from without dropping down the seat!

Once I get them scanned, I'll post the location of my 6cu ft box.

Get the new square Kicker Solo Baricks. They use very little airspace and are completely insane. They cost a little more but they're well worth it if you have the extra cash.

why not remove the rear seats.. to do the install.. think of the possabilities.. you still have all your trunk space.. full spare if ya like.. you dont haveto worry about driving people around,, and the car is weighted better.. the farther you can get the weight to the center of the car the better for stabalization.. no car is made to have a rear seat with 2 people in it (est(300 lbs) and 200lbs of stereo aswell.. it will hinder performance in the turns and launches.. if the weight is in the center its better weight distrubution.. i got my pics in the store getting developed today.. i should be able to post em up by the end of the week if anyone is interested..
