I have been searching the internet as well as DSMTalk.

I have no idea if this will work or not, I know a few people who "Say" it won't work however, just to get the record straight.

I would really like to hear from people who have tried it. I would appreciate it if people didn't do the : "Uhh they are different motors, so they won't fit"

So will the 95-99 2.0 Turbo FWD Automatic Transmission work in a 96-99 2.4 Non-Turbo FWD Automatic?

Could you please add:

Why they don't work?
Axles different?
What Torque converter will I have to use?
Flex Plates?
Starter Plates?
Mounts are different?
Starters are different?

I assume it doesn't fit, but I have a buddy with a 2.4 Spyder and he needs a Transmission bad...

Thanks. 231-903-8225 Call or Text.

I know the 2.0 manual turbo transmission will fit the 2.4 and vice versa. One thing that is different are the axles and if I remember, the spyder tranny has higher gearing. I don't know about automatics, but I don't see why it wouldn't. Wish I could give you more input.

I see no reason why it wouldn't fit. I know it will bolt up to the engine just fine. I have a 2.4 in my eclipse and the tranny fits fine. I am not familiar with the underhood layout of the spyded but from what I had read they are the same as turbo 2g. Remember the 4g63t is an option for the spyder. The only differece between the 63 and 64 Other than the internals is the deck height is taller for the 64. Everything on the ouside of the engine is interchangeable between the two.

It will work as long as you get the entire transmission, including convertor, flex plate, and you should even grab the mounts just for giggles.

Everything will bolt right in. Axles are even the same on the automatic between years (they are different than the 5-speed).

What about Transmission Computers?
Shift Cable?

I do know on a manual that the clutches and flywheels are different from turbo to non turbo, not sure about turbo to non turbo A/T. A/T's are usually fairly universal.

No personal expirence, but I'd guess the shift cable will be fine. Transmission computer may be a different story, but I doubt you would hurt anything by trying it.

And jboy3219: The clutches and flywheels are interchangable on 4G63 and 4G64 engines.

Not true with N/T non-Spyder cars with the 420a, but we're not in that section.

Clutches and flywheels are not interchange-able. Non-turbo 4g63 and Turbo AWD 4g63 flywheels don't even look the same.

FWD turbo flywheels are bigger than AWD flywheels, and the Nonturbo ones are just flat. No Risers for the Pressure plate mounting points.
