: Identify rods and Pistons
lilredeclipse 11-08-2011, 01:26 AM I picked up a car with a "built" motor. The guy got it from a friend of a friend of a....
Anyway he had no clue what was in the motor.
The rods have no identifiable markings. They have CARR SPS 34 7/16 bolts.

Pistons are JE but have no markings as well. In the bottom of the piston it says 85M_

:dunno:
Wes393 11-08-2011, 04:31 AM I would gues Carillo since they have the Carr rod bolts. Everyone else seems to use ARP.
DSM Loki 11-08-2011, 04:34 AM Weird that the p/n isn't on the bottom of the pin boss anymore.
Those are carrillo MI-4G6>-65906S rods.

kronus 11-08-2011, 10:55 AM Holy balls.
Red1991TSI 11-08-2011, 11:05 AM Moved to parts talk forum. Really doesn't belong in the lounge. Nice find on the parts. My guess is they pistons are stock size, thus the 85 marking.
MacGSX 11-08-2011, 11:12 AM Damn bro, you got mad lucky.
Bradikus7 11-08-2011, 12:19 PM Ha! I thought I had found them cheaper but apparently with the CARR bolts (rated at 1000hp) They are even more expensive than previously thought! I hope you got an amazing deal on that motor man.

MacGSX 11-08-2011, 12:51 PM That car cost him less than he'll get for scrap. I hate him.

This is true. Sold the Eprom ecu for $100 and made half my money back :P.
:D
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 01:16 PM God, I'm officially jealous. Finding a 2G with a built motor for $200....:(
Bradikus7 11-08-2011, 01:19 PM Well.......IMO those who run 9's should pass on savings as these to fellow DSMers like myself!:D
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 01:20 PM Yeah! I demand the shell for free.
:P
swade 11-08-2011, 01:21 PM It would match your 1g perfectly :)
Swade
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 01:26 PM Sweet. I'll be there to pick it up on Friday.
:P

Hahahah to funny. Wonder if he's seen the car.
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 02:39 PM Looks don't bother me, having another car would come in handy.
Also, you meant "too" not "to". ;)
MacGSX 11-08-2011, 03:49 PM I meant what I wrote. Thanks.
lilredeclipse 11-08-2011, 04:08 PM Sooo.. anyone know how I can identify these pistons?
Would someone happen to have a set laying around they could measure so I can start checking these?
MacGSX 11-08-2011, 04:15 PM Lick them and put them in the oven...
j/k. You say they are JE for sure though?
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 04:17 PM I meant what I wrote. Thanks.
Your welcome. Just figured if you were going to be a stuck up little prick, you should at least do it properly. ;)
MacGSX 11-08-2011, 04:18 PM Sorry for the derailment Chrissy poo, I'll stop messing this thread up... I'll text you a picture of my ****** if you want...
Edit- Because I love you man, I'll clean it up...
CrackedDSM 11-08-2011, 04:18 PM Got one, thanks. :)

lilredeclipse 11-09-2011, 03:44 PM I tried that but they have not numbers. I'd really like to try and identify them with out shipping one to them. $75 to have them find out what they are.
DSM Loki 11-09-2011, 10:55 PM Might be able to get a rough estimate of dish cc, use calipers to get diameter, pin height, and tell them the application in an email and they may be able to help you out.
