I know spare tires can only go to 55mph or something. Do you think its safe to run with two donuts in the back. They are a lot lighter then stock 16" wheels and its look funny too. Do you think it could better 1/4 times?

I don't think the track would let you do it. Sounds like a death wish to me but the benefits of them wouldn't add up to the gains I think. Later,

I wouldn't do it, those things just seem way to flimsy and unstable to me. :)

I just had the same idea the other day. Actually 5.0 mustangs used to paint them with chrome paint to look aluminum and got away with it at the track. It seems a little dangerous though.

I would recommend getting some light weight dummy rims insteady of using the spares. They are only rated for 55mph and I doubt would be very good for near 100mph speeds.

12secFWD too bad Mustangs are RWD so they dont even have to paint them and they still can get away with it.

As TomsTSI said, most tracks will stop you. All tracks should, but there are some tracks that don't even bother looking at what you are running, so you might get away with it, but its not safe because of their rating.

I don't have to worry about this problem, but I was just wondering ... could one replace the tire's on the spare rims with a tire that was at least h-rated? Are there even tires that small available with a speed rating higher than 55-mph ?

Probably a stupid idea, just thinking out loud :)

I beleive that not only are the tires on a donut poorly speed rated, but the wheels are too. (Some one correct me if I am wrong) :)

I think that the difference wouldn't be great enough to tell unless you can continuly and consistantly run the same times, to even tell a difference, just get some jacked up wheelie bars so the rear tires doen't even touch the groung, and more weight is on front, if you have seen Horsepower TV's import special then you know what I'm talking about, if not you probably think I'm retarded (if you don't already :))
