Very nice two piece pipe. Reaches all the way to the
throttle body. Its powder coated black and flanged for the Greddy Type S bov. HRC neglected to make this clear to me on the phone when I was ordering so I ended up buying a used Greddy bov. As you all know, any UIC pipe makes a nice difference on the 2g models since the stock pipe flattens and twists under the air box. This was a mod you could definitely feel under all driving conditions and you have to have some type of aftermarket open air intake or the pipe will not fit. Install is difficult for just a pipe. Make sure you lubricate the ends of the lower pipe where the couplings slide on or you will be in a wrestling match all nite. Overall a great mod and worth the cost, but if I had it to do over again, I'd probably go with David Brode.

I bought this upgrade back in December of 98. All three pipes, both uppers and one lower. Of course the lower worked perfectly. I had a nightmare with the uppers, and since I bought it through a distributor, I had a nightmare getting it returned and refunded. The top two didn't fit and I had a continuous boost leak. Yuck. The mounting bracket was in the way to correctly place it on top of the stock side mount. Not to mention the wimpy silicone that he sent. I suggest if you buy it take head, the beautiful powder coating and design has potential to fool you. Buy some good silicone and place black tar under each connection for added support. I spoke with Bill Hahn, and I have no problems with him or his customer service. They are top notch, Good luck.

black98 brings up a good point. Our original design Stage I upper pipe was introduced in 1995 with a mounting bracket like the stock part. In 1998, we introduced the Stage II upper pipe that then replaces the intake hose and throttle body elbow. It soon became apparent from customer feedback that the bracket on the Stage I pipe was being a PIA. So we deleted it from the pipe, and revamped the fit of the pipes to accomodate. black98 apparently got an early setup (soon after we introduced the Stage II upper). Sorry it did not work out for you, but thanks for helping us find and fix the problem!
Diamonds: We do have the ability to fit a 1G BOV to this pipe, but it takes a bit of modding. We trim off the big mounting ears (they can interfere with the fuseblock) and drill / tap 6X1mm holes to mount the valve to our Asian type flange. We also sell 1G valves pre-modded for this purpose. Sorry this was not clear to you at time of purchase.
black98: What did you find with the silicone hose we provided? I have not heard a problem with this before and am looking for your input.

My personal experience with it, just seemed a little thin in my tastes. One way I thought it could have made a difference in the fit. I did try a few other types, not many made the grade in my opinion.
I am glad to hear that you changed the design though. I really had a dickens of a time with them. Thanks.

I have the Stage 1 & 2 pipes on my car right now. They work, can be a little bit of a pain to get in, but are priced fairly cheap. I would definately recommend it over the Dave Brode, which I had before it. The Brode is okay if thats all you can afford, but it uses too much rubber hosing for the elbow to the stock intercooler, which expands, gets kinked, and can wear out. I had the HRC lower I/C pipe, but it was a little too short for my FMIC piping, it fits nice with the stock intercooler though. I currently have the RRE lower i/c pipe fudged in there. I plan on replacing all my I/C piping with a custom setup soon anyways.

I got the stage 1 and stage 2 upper pieces from Hahn and mounted a Greddy BOV on it. I did not get the lower pipe as I will have a FMIC eventually and would have to toss it anyway. My previous power mods were K&N, BOV dump tube mod and 2.5" cat-back, but this is the most impressive mod yet. Now the car is starting to get some balls. I got these pipes because it replaces everything from the intercooler to the throttle body and retains the same shape as the stock. I wanted to mount the Greddy oil catch can between the BOV and the battery and these pips allow for that. See for yourself below.

If you get a premade FMIC kit like a GReddy, you will still want a lower I/C pipe, they don't come with one that goes all the way to the turbo.

I bought an used Stage I HRC UIC from some guy on dsmtrader. It was a pain to install. The end where it meets the sotck intercooler could used more beading. I had to double clamp that sucker to keep it from popping off. (had to order a longer coupling from HRC, cost me $6 for that little piece of silicon, plus shipping, over $10. Damn! $10 for a piece of hose?) And it didn't fit that well, took me an hour to put the coupling on. Because the pipe's end was off by about 3/4 of an inch where it meets the stock intercooler.
I have a question for HRC, I got the pipe with a 1G BOV already on there. Since this pipe was made with a Greddy flange, does that mean the 1G BOV I have is probably modded? So that means if I want to get a Greddy BOV, I wouldn't have to do anything to the flange, it'll just bolt right on? Thanks.
