Will frequent launching (about 4500-6000 RPM slip/dumping the clutch) just destroy the fragile DSM AWD drivetrain? Im too poor to afford new parts, etc.

thanks

YES!!!!!!!!! You really shouldn't "dump"the clutch rather slip it out quickly.Dumping the clutch will make all teh moving parts snap into place like gears and stuff. not good. And from your Name I can assume you have a 3 bolt rear, these break!

yeah, people have described to me their "dumping" methods which are really slipping, so i just threw dumping in there. i let the clutch out real fast but i dont wanna burn up the clutch either. i understand that just left stepping the clutch would make the gears pretty much slam against each other.

also, while im on it. i find that at like 4 grand i take off a lot better than higher. Although my friends like higher better cause the wheels slip and it's "cooler" to them, but i find it's quicker to do at lower rpm's where there's more torque you can get to the ground than hp.

finally, ive heard people with MSD Dis2's hold it at whatever rpm to spool up the boost. i held it tonight for about two sec at a high rpm and it seemed a lot more powerful on launch. should i hold it to spool up?

thanks!!!!

you can dump the clutch you just have to tighten your drive train before you launch and you should not have a problem but remember that its always at your own risk.

Hey socal, big *** al dumps the clutch, has a 2100 and still averages 1.9 60 foots. You guys should try slipping it so you don't squeal the tires. Alex dumps it and ALWAYS says man that was a great launch, I squealed the tires for 2 seconds...hahaha just pokinn fun alex... you do say that tho.:)

What you guys have to do is get urself a 2WD....that way breaking driveline parts isn't as big of a problem :D:D hahaha J/K......seriously though...socalgsx is right, if alex was here he would agree. Take out the slack out of the drivetrain by holding up the e-brake and rolling forward slowly and lightly until the drivetrain is tight. Dumping the clutch after doing this isn't as harsh. But it is still a big risk. Have fun......2WD rules HAHAHAHAHAHA....

Poor Alex gets no say so on these discussions much when it pertains to him.....From what I've seen, that being inside his car when launching, he does what Rydah says but the feeling you get when Alex launches is........oh shhhhhhhhhhh BANG, everthing is tight but if you can't afford a new clutch I wouldn't suggest you do this....well at least not for more than a few runs....
AWD is so much fun when money isn't an object....

Don't dump it, if you got an old clutch your clutch will spin or your wheels will spin... either way a slow launch. Try slipping it... by the way Alex spins at the line and gets 1.9 and high 1.8 times... maybe if he slippied it instead of having his tires slip he'd get a better 60ft time:)
