hey, if you guys wanna test your 0-60 on GSX, do you keep your gear on 2nd before it reaches to 60mph? or do you shift to 3rd? I'm not sure if the car could handle RPMs on 2nd gear at 60mph, what would the RPM be?
thanks.

In my NT 4G63 I hit a little above 60 (~62) just as I reach redline in second. Shouldn't be much different in the GSX. But the thing you have to consider is that on a relatively stock 4G63 you lose power from about 6-7K RPM.

oh so I guess there is a need to shift to 3rd then huh?(too bad)
hey what is NT 4G63 ??? I'm a newbie to Eclipses so I'm clueless.

I always stay in 2nd when I do 0-60 GTech runs. On a 2G AWD with 97+ stock size tires/rims you will be at 6575RPMs at 60mph.
Here is page that does RPMs vs speed calculations for the DSM gearboxs.

NT 4G63 means non-turbo 4G63 and 4G63 is the engine that's in the turbo eclipses and a few of the non-turbo 90-94 eclipses.

What??? You accelerate in 2nd gear? Why? This would make your 0-60 slower wouldnt it??? In 2nd gear the car would go "blu blu blu bluhhhhhhhhwaaaaaaaaapppppsssshhhhttt(greddy type-s only:))

You can get your 0-60 time by putting in your 1/8 mile ET and speed here: http://www.notabusinessracing.org/0-60_equation.html

Heh, I mean I start in 1st, shift into 2nd and stay in second. I don't shift to 3rd.

On my friend's G-TECH I ran a 5.8s 0-60 in my 99 GSX and I missed 2nd gear. Mods are intake, exh and small 16g at 17psi. Ambient air temp about 55. Next time I'm hoping for a sub 5-second run with my new wheel/tire combo and suspension setup. I wonder if I'm on par with everyone else?

You shoulda did 2 runs, if you missed 2nd gear. You should be able to get into the 4s, if you have a clutch to back it up. I think I ran ~5.8 with the T-25 and basic mods. Then like ~5.2 with a 16G and then mid 4s once I got a real clutch. I didn't think the clutch was slipping, but I guess it was on the launch. Last time out with my current setup I pulled a 3.78 and a 2 3.9s...

Hey, that site is cool as hell! :D I put in my 1/8th mile times/mph, and got a 0-60 of 5.3 seconds. I really think the car is a bit quicker, however, since that was done before my ACT 2600 and on only my 3rd of 3 runs in my Talon. Can you say 4's? :D

I got a 0-60MPH time of 3.47 secs according to the site.
I am in the 3s though :)

I got a 3.55 on that site, my local track doesn't give 1/8 mile MPH, just ET, so I had to use an older run from the Shootout.

If the car is running low 12s you are in the 3-4 sec range!!
The stock cars doing those times would be a Lamborghini Diablo and the new Porsche 911 TT. Both are AWDs....the Z06 and the Viper are right there too.

I put in the 1/8 time and mph of favorite run yet.
spun 1st, spun 2nd, gave up in the middle...21.1@50mph
I ran 0-60 in 18.4 seconds!!!!! whooo!

According to the G-Tech I am at 4.43 sec for 0-60 before the last couple mods, and the calculator using older 1/8 times says I'm at 4.4 sec. This is with the original equipment 14b, no fuel control, factory intercooler and pump gas :)

The G-Tech's give really unreliable readings. I mean, they're better than a stop watch, but I have noted some variance on them. I borrowed a friend's a long time ago and did probably 60 different passes with it. 0-60 times were only a +/- .5 variance, but 1/4 ETs were definitely off compared to testing it while at a track. Sometimes ETs were more than 1 sec off. The times that ET was close, trap speed was way off (>3mph) and the times that trap was close, ET was off (.5-1.4 seconds). HP was more than 30 off. That was like 2 years ago though...not sure if they've improved them at all since.
...and that 0-60 calculator site is a joke :) It's cool to see stuff like that though. There's no where near enough points to come up with an accurate measurement. My best 1/8 mile ET/trap gave me 3.36 0-60. It's more like 3.8 in real life.
I have a spreadsheet that will calculate your 0-60 with input for 60 foot, 330', 1/8 mile, 1000' and 1/4 mile. It uses polynomial regression, trendline, and Newton-Raphson root solving to produce a very accurate "calculated" 0-60 time.
Maybe I can try to put it up on a site somewhere...

HondaKiller, where in Iowa do you live? I'm from Ames... I never saw any turbo DSM's in Iowa when I lived there.
I live in Dallas, TX now... It's pretty much the bomb for car lovers. Even 60 year old grandmas in their AWD minivans will try to take you off the lights :).

I'm in Des Moines. When did you live in Ames? Right now we have several DSM's in central Iowa and quite a few imports in general, but most of them are 16 second rice-mobiles. It's fun to scare them with my Talon :)

I moved out of Iowa in early '99...
I had a 95 ESi at the time though. Didn't get my GST until June of 99 or so.
Just picked up the GSX a couple months ago. Next time I drive up to my parents place I'll have to look you guys up.
