My 2G the rear speaker panels loves to rattle
it sounds like a cricket. when i press my hand on it it goes away. FYI I don't even have rear speakers there, just a small sub in the trunk. I also did the fuel pump rewire there so it has a lot of wires and that doesn't help. I taped down most of the wires already. Is there something that I can do to get rid of this rattle?
It makes any music suck

You can buy an insulating/sound dampening material....i think one company that makes it is Dynomat.

FIRST, DO NOT BUY DYNAMAT!!! they rip you off big time! there is an Alternative to dynamat, it is called HI-TEMP MASTIC. you can buy hi-temp mastic at http://www.meci.com (meci is great for almost everything) this is where dynamat screws u in the booty- Dynamat and Hi-temp mastic are the SAME EXACT THING. Dynamat has their name silkscreened on to the matting and charges 3x more than meci charges.
you apply this stuff by peeling the backing off and heating the "sticky side" to the panel and rolling it onto the panel.
i have applied matting to my entire car except my doors. and in my trunk i applied matting and sprayed rubber undercoating over top for "extra dampening" this has worked great, no rattles whatsoever. i was hitting 140+dbs and still no rattling.
if you'd like me to go into more detail about everything then email me at hdswanny@lycos.com

thanks, I'll check it out, but my problem is when I press on it it doesn't make a sound. I'll try to stick a piece of foam OR sponge between the panel and the chassis first.. And alot more duct tapes to tape down all wires :)
Hey, I can't find the stuff on the site.. what material is is under?

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but my panel inside rattles like hell because of my loud exhaust (it didn't do it before I got my exhaust). I can't really tell where it's coming from, but I'm guessing it's the rear speakers as well. My music sounds fine though -- I often turn it up to avoid hearing this obnoxious noise. Do you think buying meci would help me too?
