I "saw" 135....and I say "saw" since I wasn't watching the speedometer until I started to slow down a bit.

Well do to the fact of my car being an automatic, and never running more than 10 psi before the tranny went down hill.

I got up to ~135 in 4th, getting my ass handed to me by a ls1 Camaro SS, and it really wasn't moving. It was very bouncy and unstable around turns.

The 5-spd should really help me out, along with springs for some highspeed. :)

went 150mph in around 20seconds with my 95 tsi-awd. the car was very stable but the air is pretty wicked at 150mph.

About 145 and I was in the back seat... I have probably had it up to about 135. I haven't really went on any top speed runs. I get it up to 120 alot, hell I almost run that in the 1/4. ;/

Most I have hit was 140 in a freeway race with a 93 T/A.

Im assuming most of you are running chips, as I have heard that the 2nd Gens are limited to 135 because they come with H rated tires, which are only rated to that speed. Is this true?

I think I hit more than 150 mph cuz the needle get stock at the bottom of the speedometer and I even have a picture of it,( i need to scan it ) just don't ask me how do I take that pics while driving at that speed it's just F*#@$ scary and I will not gonna do that again :D. But normally in my freeway race I always hit around 140 to 145 mph, Be very careful guys we only have one life to spend.

The AWDs don't have a speed limiter, the FWDs do, but there is a mod to get around it, I believe.

In the car like 130 and I did 165 (plus or minus a little for speedo error) on my CBR900rr, My friend on a Hayabusa was pullin past me like nothing. Shit happens real quick at that speed ;).

I also took a picture in a BMW I was in on the autoban's(don't spell good). That was like 255 kph. I think that's about 145-150? I took two just in case one didn't come out. Both of the fuckers didn't come out!!:(, Later

Hayabusa...very nice.

I've only been to 120. I rarely go on the freeway. But when going 120, it was so stable and it felt like it could just keep going to...the speed limiter...oh well.
I have Zs in the front H rated tires in the back.

140mph, that's where I'm wishing for that 6th gear :D

135mph. (stock) It was late at night, and the freeway isn't very flat. The car was bouncy, but stable. Seems like it was accelerating slowly after 130, so I didn't go any higher, afraid the road was bad and might get my car out of control. I know the GSX have no speed limiter, does it have rev limiter? At what rpm?

i hit 120 in my nt. woulda got higher but since it wouldn't pull much after 115 in 4th i had to hit fifth and it barely made it to 120 but with a set of eibachs on it ran real smooth even with factory shocks.

I've been to 120-125 many of times, Couldn't really pull much faster than that since i only got (cough) 4th gear >:( Hopefully when I do the manual Tranny conversion I can get a little more speed outta my little NT :)

I have a completly stock 1993 1.8L SOHC Eclipse (don't worry, after i get outta college i'm gonna get a real Eclipse and mod it out). My speedo reads 120 mph, but i think its off by about 5 mph, so i'm guessing 115 tops. My friend claims he rode in a '95 or newer (he's a dumbass, didn't know exactly what year but "it didn't look like yours") GSX that would do 160 mph, but that seems way too fast with the added weight of of the AWD system. I told him he was full of sh** but he swears up and down it'll go that fast. He said the car had some mods but not very many.

I have gone about 110 in my 93 AWD, I was scared to go faster because of an incident in my past. About 10 Years ago I was racing my 94 Toyota Supra against my friends 86 Mazda 626 Turbo, I remember looking at my speedo and it read 130mph. He lost controll of his car about 130 mph in front of me, I switched lane one over to the left. Before I knew it my car was also in a 360. This was in NYC on the highway about 9PM, thank god neither one of us hit anything or each other. I ended up in the middle lane stalled facing oncoming traffic which came to a stop thank god. My friend ended up on the medium facing the same direction as well. After that, I learned how easy it is for a car to spin out at those speeds, especially when you think the car is stable. There is no warning when they go into a 360 at those speeds. Becareful all!

According to the speed calculator (http://bis.bc.ca/cgi-bin/speed?car=2&gear=4&rpm=7100&width=235&profile=45&rim=17&speed=160.668380135178&kph=257.069408216284) I went 162mph in my Laser, 7100 rpms, 5th gear, 1gawd tranny, 235/45 tires on 17" wheels. This was done while racing a NSX on the interstate.

I need to find a place to test out my 8300 rpm rev limiter in 5th gear someday :D According to that same calculator I'd be doing 190mph, that could be fun

Fastest I've gone was around 105, no where near the max speed of the car.

Reason: scared of cops. Pretty tough to explain to cop why you were going 135+ mph. :)

Plus, I want to keep my driver's license.

Hey LaserAWD, did you beat the NSX???

LaserAWD
12-10-2000, 08:38 PM
I beat the NSX at the drag strip that night. On the interstate the first time we raced, up to about 150-ish, was dead even but my EGT's got to about 950 and my engine temp was up there. Then he pulled off to the side to re-connect his v-tec controler as I later found out. All the while I pulled off to let the engine cool and re-tune for top end runs.

I end up meeting him again and we went from about 70mph, I had him in 3rd and ran it out to about 7600 and had maybe my rear tire at his front bumper. From there it ground into 4th and I lost a car length and stayed that length behind until 7100 in fifth.

Your decision on wether I beat him or not. I'd say it was about damn even. I was running 17psi, ran 104mph at the track that night, same speed he did. Then I turned it up to 19psi and ran 108mph with some tuning. So I might have been able to get him if it had been tuned on the way to the track.

I took my GSX with just a catback and K&N up to 140, and quickly backed down. We were heading back to Dallas from Ennis. I was racing another turbo 1G at the time (FWD, I think) :) , he was about a car back the whole time and let off ~ 120. I kept going to 140, and shut down due to nearly soiling myself. :D I'm really glad I did back off too, because about the time I slowed down to ~ 90 mph I passed a cop who proceeded to give me a ticket - 90 in a 60. Bad, but not near as bad as 140 in a 60!!!

Keep in mind that weight doesn't affect top speed, it only affects acceleration. Horsepower, gearing, and aerodynamics are the key factors in top speed.

I remember once when I was racing a Lotus I downshifted to fourth gear from about 110 MPH and was accelerating so hard through 170 that my speedo needle broke off against the stop
and started spinning clockwise. So I'd say around 190 somewhere :D

Ok on a more serious note, about 130 is the fastest I've gone in my car and to be honest thats about the fastest my brain will let me go. A few nights in jail just isn't worth it. I bet I could hit 160 though, car feels very stable, kinda like her legs are just beginning to stretch. Thats one thing I like about Eclipses, the turbo speedometers have plenty of room to play. I hate those old domestic 85 mph gauges.

120 on the way home from the dealership, I just had to see what my 94 tsi awd would do. Was really stable and pretty quite, then I made the mistake of rolling down my window and it scared the hell out of me so I slowed down:)

Well, speed calculator on here says that at 7300 rpm on a 225/50/16 in a 1g fwd is 175mph. Not sure how accurate that is, but with the Web Cams, the car pulled that in 5th no problem. We regularly do top end racing down here in Florida...I don't drag too much..mostly racing from 60mph on. Lots of fun, just have to be VERY safe about it. I have been clocked at 163mph on Police Radar (it was a friend of ours) and that was a few hundred rpm shy of redline.

Well not in a DSM, but in a 97 Sebring LX, same motor as a no-turbo 2G... was going like 140 neck-and-neck with a 94-98 (or whatever it is) Mustang GT...

I went about 120 in my Conquest in Texas. Didn't see the metro cop on the right. shook his doors something feirce. Took him two overpasses to catch me after i pulled off the throttle. They get a little pissed when you do that. Got off the ticket though, lawyers are good for that.

125 in my GST whe it was stock in colorado. Not to scarry did get light over a few rising hills on I-25 between Denver and Colorado Springs. Now in northern CA too many cars not enough room to go fast. 110 on a regular basis though.

"Drive Fast 'till you see God, then brake!"

Remember the brake part though have had some good friends forget this one. Go fast be safe!

The first day I got my stock GST My friend and I picked it up at 10pm and had it up to 136 in fifth on the highway on the way home but got scared of the wind effect.
Since my mods I've only done 4th gear runs to 130 with pedal to spare. Great ride with Ground control coilovers and KYB shocks. But haven't done an alignment yet so it's squirrely on acceleration. I'm getting it done this weekend. and can't wait to try a fifth gear run if it doesn't snow.
A certain employee of a race shop I know took it out with my roommate and went through a speed trap at 130+ on a fourth gear S-AFC test run and they didn't even try to pull him over. ( although he got off the highway and did a quick back street run down the other side of the highway to ditch them, he said he didn't see any lights.)

90 FWDT - all the way over 145 ... my guess 148 (speedo could've been lying a bit tho)
90 AWD - 137 (Rev/Speed meter, I don't trust the speedo .. was showing above 140)
91 Stealth TT - 160 - according to speedo

Did 145 coming back from a track with a another fellow DSM and let me tell you. Havin the GABS at all the way stiff and dunlops all season didn't make for a fun ride. Down right scary. never will do that again! On a stiff suspension =)
