I'm pretty convinced now my passive alarm has a mind of its own!! The alarm sets but even when I open a door with the key it still sounds!!
My main goal is to just be able to have the horn still working! I'm afraid the 2 are all tired in. If I remove the anti-theft/alarm relay under the steering column, anyone know if the horn will still work? I'm starting tot hink I just wasted $75 on a new alarm ECU for nothing!

tia,
Mike

here's what you'll want to do...
go into the drivers (or pass) kick panel find a small wire coming from the door (green/ with a white trace) test this wire by turning the key in the door to unlock the car this wire should show a negative with that wire found just ground it to the car somewhere and you factory alarm is disabled...... good luck

Would it be the same color for a 2g. I've been looking for this cable.

I didn't actually find the wire and ground it since I wasn't too sure if I had the right wire, so I took my door panel off and unplugged the wiring harness that goes to the lock cylinder mechanism that tells the alarm ECU if the doors are locked etc. I looked at the wiring diagram and tired/jumped 2 of the leads to trick my alarm ECU to think my doors are never locked, even tho I can still lock them by hand, this will never allow the alarm to set. So far so good for a week.
If you try this on a 2G and have pwr locks (don't know if you could get a 2G w/o then..) it might not allow your pwr locks to work. Since I don't have them it didn't matter for me.

Actually I found a wire squematic for the 1g and 2g and there is a factory disarm cable you can use to permanently disable the alarm. Except I'm not sure if it disarms when grounded or with a signal. I need to know because I'm adding a after market alarm/remote start but still want the stock one to work. But it should also help in the case you had. Thanks.

Here is for the 1g:
|FCTRY ALRM DISARM|brn/wht or brn/blk
|- |DKP harness from door |

Here is for the 2g:
| DISARM NO UNLOCK|green/white
|- |drivers door harness |

I think that is kinda similar to what I did, at least I think I was dealing w/the same harness in the door. I am not 100% sure but from "autox4fun's" post seems the alarm is disarmed when grounded.

ok, sorry to bring up old threads, but i need to know how to ground this stock alarm!!!!

know, i have figured out that i need to ground these brown/white and brown/black wires in the harness for the drivers door. now, do i just tie into those and ground them with, lets say, a vampire clip? or just slice them and ground one side or the other of the wires? im sure someone has had to have done this... please help!!!

Do you have power locks? I didn't on mine so I just tricked the alarm ECU to think the door locks were always open. See my post below.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I don't have my Tsi anymore.
What probs are you running into?
