I have a race setup for tommorrow (Sat), and I want to know how bad Im gonna lose. The opponent is a 2000 Z28, bone stock. My mods are here :http://hometown.aol.com/do7654321/myhomepage/auto.html
I think Ill lose but not too bad. I kept up with an almost stcok AWD TSi, but I was only @ 9psi, he was around 13. So I figure @ 15, Id kill em. But Im worried about the Camaro.
Win or lose, itll still be fun.

I have no idea what you're car runs, but I've seen some bone stock LS1 Z28's pull off high 12 runs (12.95, 12.92) during cold weather with a standout driver. Most I seen (and driven) run mid-low 13's though.

I once beat a Z but it was raining so I had the advantage with awd. The Z never had a chance but I am sure the outcome would have been different in dry conditions.
In any case give it your best shot and keep your head up high. I'm sure you will give him a run for the money.
Keep us inform on how you did.
Good Luck.

He never showed up. I talked to a frioend of how who said he had a bad hangover. Oh well, he was probably scared to lose to a 4 banger :)

Few.... Well Ls1 Camaro's are something you really don't want to be messing with unless you have some serious mods, especially if you want to run them on the highway.
Let me give you a little story. My friend and I and were driving on a local highway looking for races. I was in my car, and he was in his lightly modded 5-spd 90 GSX. My car was still auto, running 11 psi.
UP ahead we see a Red 99-01 Camaro SS, and even though we both know we are going to get hammered we try to see a show. I get next to him, and drop the hammer, and pull up to a 100 or so from 60, and let him catch up. I slow down to 60, and wait for him to get next to me. My friend is behind me. I dropped the hammer, and so did he. My friend being stock drops back a couple cars, but the z28 put an easy 3 car lengths on my before 100. He slowed down and let me catch up, and then dropped the hammer again. This time it wasn't even funny. It it was like he was spraying or something, cause he left me behind like a 3 cylinder Geo. At least 14 cars. I don't know what happened, either he had some serious mods, or the 16G just doesn't pull after 100.
Regardless now I am going with a Buscher 20G.
Just be carefull with those Z28. They dyno on average at 300 HP at the wheels, where as a 1st Gen AT DSM will dynon at around 165 hp.
Good luck though.

His car is far from being stock (as noted on his webpage) so I would doubt that even the mighty LS1 would throw the smack down on him. It might beat him but I doubt by much.
I had my car on the dyno Friday and pulled 235hp to the wheels and he has more mods than I do.
I think it would be a great race.

Well like I said, when I raced an Ls1 I had more mods than he did, and still got torn in half. I don't know if it was modded or what. And my 1/4 at the was pretty decent too.

From the way you talked earlier it sounds like you may have been sprayed. If that's the case, a sprayed LS1 is about the meanest car (dollar for dollar) on the road. With a hefty shot of N2O, a Camaro could easily see low 12's and maybe a high 11.
A stocker is gonna be a good run for this guy IMHO, but look out if he has any mods at all. Intake and exhaust can make a world of difference on those cars.

Well I am not sure if you realize his car is an automatic or not, but they do suffer a pretty large performance hit.
I agree it shouldn't be a massacre, if he gets a race from 0-70, but after that forget about it. The ls1 has a crazy top end.
It will take more than some light mods to keep up. I don't want to be an advocate for ls1, but I have seen what they can do.

I agree. He took me for a ride, and wow, thats a damn fast car. How dou you tell if its an LS1 or not?

Keep in mind that turbolover2 has an automatic too. I saw your mods, and my honest opinion is that you're gonna get spanked. :( A 5-spd would have a chance, but automatics run a lot slower than a similar-modded 5-spd.
I agree with everything previously said about the LS1's - they're fast. Keep in mind that racing from a punch virtually eliminates driver error, so it's gonna be more of a test of raw hp and gearing, both of which he's got on you. Good luck!

Turbolover- IF the car is a 98+ Camaro/ Transam it will be an Ls1, which is obviously a 8-cylinder with 5.7 liters of displacement.
Like I said not too much fun, unless you are really modded.

Note: The Slowmaros 3rd gear are actually pretty strong, so watch out for that. [/B]
I agree with this the last time I race a Firebird on the street I almost lost but too bad I have my V8 killer overboost switch and by the time he is in my rear bumper going to pass me I just hit the overboost switch 22lbs. and he just got spank by a 4 banger turbo:D
