As everyone knows..my car is fresh out of the stables..
I really did doubt how fast it is....

Jeff brought up my confidence a bit the other night...but I finally think my car is at least respectable!

Was going down sawmill a bit ago..and saw this stang headin the other way. I quickly do a U-Turn at the next light..and find and chase him down.
Yippe..its a SVT Cobra..*or soo badged*
He turns left onto bethel..and I ride his ass..provoking!
He puts his hand out the window..and just kinda laughs..and takes off..
I pace him..never leaving his ass !

We get side by side....not much room to run..its during 4:30 at night. and punch it in 2nd..(biddy biddy damn rev limiter)
HE CAN'T PULL ON ME?
I thought they were faster than that?
Esp seeing as I'm on stock boost?

We go about 3 -4 times again....same result..and try to catch a light but can't.

Needless to say..I was very impressed with my little car.
ESP. on stock boost.

Even in the cold though..the stock SMIC does seem to be hindered....
After running that..it felt a bit slower afterwards..

I have killed many a mustang. Usually a fun race. The SVT (think Special ED) is not all it is cracked up to be. Took one by .8 sec in the 1/4, but I really don't think that guy knew how to drive his new toy. Was very depressed to discover he got wasted by a 4banger rice mobile.

Hey fogged..
Nice to see a local guy!

Bethel Rd. isn't what it used to be since the all the F&F type stories and increased po po patrols..but occasionally you might catch a race.

Thank the nice cool air buddy. It sure does wonders for our cars against the N/As. Glad you hung right with that pony.

Yea, we've been cruisin' up there the past couple weeks, and theres been nothing everytime we go up, gone on diff. days, we've gotten like 2 races that's about it. Not the area for racing as it used to be, plus you go too far up sawmill you got all those cops that tend to hang right there. Plus the weather don't expect to see awhole lot anyway, *shrugs*. Oh well, I'm sure things will start gettin' good again as soon as the weather warms up. But, just thought it was kinda cool so see someone on here that was near me... Later man, and again good kill.

Gentlemen, Cobras are not the invincible warriors you make them out to be. I love my car but I know it's not the fastest.

No, but they still can bite you in the ass when you least expect it.

No their not, i raced my friends 2001. He ran a 8.8 in the 1/8, very nice, but it was all launch, i ran 9.2 but at the same mph. Side by side he couldn't pull and I started creeping. A 4v cobra is a awesome car but not incredible by any means. A 5.0 cobra is pie.

2001 Cobras are the best around right now. The 99s are still slower than the 01s even though they both say 320hp. I don't know 1/8 times but the new Cobras are running 13.5s stock. Check out the tracks, I don't read from magazines.

I know all that. A 8.8 would prolly be a 13.7 or so, well within a normal range for driving etc. It was his first night with the car. The 99's are slower due to a miscast intake manifold and some exhaust issues, and theres a third problem I know of that i can't think of. I go to the track about twice a month. My car is good for about 104-106 mph, It can move alright.

With the SVT fix, the 99s are making the posted 320hp.

Hey Jonez? Hows that ACT 26000 working out, pedal effort, any drivetrain snappage?:D :D :D

To be honest with you.
the first week or soo is the worse..esp. if you live in the city and do alot of stop-go traffic.

My leg was honestly sore...

But by the time its burnt in..ect..you get used to it and it becomes normal...
But just dont' try to drive someone's stock clutch....after you'll be like WTF ? you'll put your foot through the firewall!

Drivline is still great!
I havn't launched it very many times..she's only got 3600mi on the new engine. Though I am mildly scared of breakin shit...though most people tell me I"ll be fine with the 4 bolt/23spline drivline.

Its definately grabby and you will stall the car your first time out!!

you really get to like it over time though..
I can turn all 4 shortly takin off and chirp 2nd on stock boost..very easily!

Thats sounds alot like a 2600, but I assume your 26000 is even worse, does it ever snap driveshafts? Or riphalfshafts out of wheels?
