aftermarket alarm necessary for mods?

hey, i'm beggining to do more serious modifications to my car. it is equipped with the factory alarm system but i'm not sure if that will protect my hard earned money and not to mention time spent on the mods. would you recommend getting an aftermarket alarm that will keep my car from being tampered with, or is that really not necessary with the factory alarm? anyone get their stuff jacked? thanks

The factory alarm is a joke (as with any car), so invest in a decent alarm, which isn't that much money anyway considering the peace of mind you'll get. I'm not guaranteeing your stuff will be theif-proof, but at least it's many times better than the stock alarm.

As always, if a good thief really wants your things, then he's gonna get them no matter what. A good alarm can prevent the more common break-ins (teens breaking a window, etc.- more than likely they will scramble if the alarm is triggered) and it definately does give me a peace of mind.
