View Full Version : AUTO REFRESH - Want it or Not?

09-22-2000, 09:32 AM
If you care one way or the other, please post here. I had previously hacked the message board script to add Auto-refresh to the main forums display. Here's the low-down on the Auto Refresh:

If you keep DSMtalk.com open in a window during the day with one eye on your work and your other eye on the forums, you see new light bulbs every five minutes in the forums where there are new posts.

The downside is, if you keep DSMtalk.com open but step away frequently, you may completely miss more than one "cycle", thus, you will miss some lightbulbs.

If you use the site and leave between visits, there is no difference at all and you shouldn't care.

Post here -

Keep the Auto Refresh
Remove the Auto Refresh

(if you don't care - don't bother posting)

I like it, but can it be made to refresh at a longer interval than 5 mins? Like perhaps, 10 or 15?

dsm4eva, I can set it for any duration. If it is kept maybe I could change it...

BUT, If anybody else has an opinion on KEEPING the autorefesh or DITCHING the autorefresh, now's the time to say something :)

Personally I don't really have a problem with the refreshes....

Well its looking like more in favor of keeping it than removing it... I'll keep it in there for now, and probably lengthen the refresh period a bit which may help you Keith... I'll look into this issue again in a while to see if it is bothering anyone else Keith. Hang in there :)

Keep it, without it I had to constantly reload pages.
