Any Utah Dsmers?

I am just looking for some utah dsmers to hang out with, I need to learn more about the cars but i have no way to without experience its hard.

I think theres a few of us. Im in Orem. I drive a Maroon 90 GST. My girlfriend drives a Blue 91 GSX, and my roomate is soon to be driving a heavily modded Blue 90 GSX. So far theres three of us. But Im slowly convincing everyone else I know that DSMs are the only way to go.

Do you ever go to the street races out on california ave? I am going tonight with a couple of my friends, but i dont think Im gonna race. Do you guys do your own work on your cars? If you do, Id like to come hang with you guys one day when your planning on doing something, or if you would help me on mine, so I can get a better understanding of what everything is.

Im not real big on street racing. I dont mind showing a civic my taillights every now and then, but Ive never really gotten into competing, (theres not a lot of competition around here anyway), If I still lived in California, that would be a different story. I do all my own work, I used to turn wrenches at a VW repair shop in CA, so I cant really bear to let anyone else do work that Im capable of.
So far Ive just got an MBC, K&N, Sprint springs/KYB struts and a killer stereo. Ive got plans for a 16G turbo, Front mount intercooler, 3" exhaust, and equal length halfshaft mod. Once Ive got it fast enough, I want to get it painted, I was thinking about getting it done in that dark eggplant color that came on the 2G eclipses, its close enough to my current color that I wouldnt have to paint the doorjambs or under the hood, but it would be enough of a change that it would get some attention.
What are you driving? Where in Utah are you? Im assuming youre in sandy or jordan? Definately let me know if you need help working on your car or anything, Im always willing to lend a hand, I mean it. Also, if you ever need parts or anything, Ive got alot of spare stuff, and I can locate parts around here really easily. Send me an Email if you need anything, or if you want to meet up.

Ahhh, I was wondering about DSMing in Utah... I'm seriously considering moving there when my house here sells. But, I'd be going to the Cedar City area...I took a short trip there a few weeks ago to check it out in detail. There is only TWO bars in that town! Not that that really matters, but interesting none the less...
What else can you guys tell me about Utah, good or bad?
btw -where are the troopers in Utah? I can tell you I did some *serious* speeding in Utah and NEVER saw a trooper on the open highway... interestingly enough though, as soon as I hit Cedar, the radar detector told me they were there.

I had some big 4WD truck rev on me in that town, hehe. I just had to appease his stupid curiousity!

Ogden, Utah here;] Ya brigham is what 1/2 hour from here? My brother's dad lives out there, So I have to pick him up/drop him off once a month. What part of brigham do you live in? Any other Utah dsmers out there? Ya and my friend Adam drives a 96 red gsx, with a greddy fmic and a big 16g, and other supporting mods. My other friend drives a 95 tsi with the same mods as me. I live in Salt Lake, right by the mouth of big cottonwood canyone (ski resorts, brighton, solitude). There is a yahoo group for utahdsm, they get together once in a while and do stuff, I wish it was more organized though. I personally dont like Cedar city, but it is right down the road from St. George (that is where its at).

I live in Bountiful, ut. And there is quite a few dsm's around here. There is a little site for a few dsmers though it is updates like once a year. Utah.dsm.org.

Utah is full of cops, I lived in St.George for a few years. Cedar City is about 45 mins from there. I just got back from an evening cruise and there was a 1995 eclispe GS, lowered, ground effects, and the big exhaust. I stomped him. :) A little while after than I was sitting in a parking lot just being bored watching the cars go bye. And I saw that same eclispe and an Rx7 at the light. They tore off. And suddenly here came 3 cops after them. I waited about a minute or so, and went after them. About 3 blocks ahead were the eclispe and the rx7 with 8 cop cars lined up behind them. Pretty crazy stuff. I decided that it would be a good time to go home. :)

I've been cruising around in Ogden before and I can't believe how many modded DSM's are out. Just the other night I was out cruisin and saw a bright red 97 gsx with a big frount mount and nice rims, etc. I nearly drove into the curb drooling over it.

HEhe, that sucks, all you guys are in nothern Utah. I'm down here in Orem, there are 3 DSM's here in my apartment complex (including mine) that have stuff done to them, but I can never see who goes out to drive 'em. Anyone in my area?

Sad thing though is that I just got in a accident last Saturday, it sucks. The stupid insurance company of the guy at fault keeps avoiding me I swear, GRRRRRRR!!

I left Utah in april and havent been back since. Im heading back to Orem right after Christmas. Orem is a college town and full of crappy drivers. Sorry to hear of your wreck. You have to be extremely careful in Orem/Provo, especially in the winter. Nobody knows how to drive. I remember last year, I saw an accident at the same spot on University ave, every morning for a week. It was the first week of snowfall. Just drive defensively, and slow it down in traffic, cuz you never know when someone will decide to change lanes without looking.

Yeah, nobody really knows how to drive here. I was on I-15 when some stupid lady forced me into those concrete barrier things, she was driving a minivan of course :). HEhe, I'm going to UVSC so I'm almost in the heart of college town, provo is pretty much alllll college out-of-control drivers. Are you staying down here again, or just visiting?

Im going back to UVSC in January. I dont have my Eclipse anymore though. I have a Civic, but Im in the middle of selling it and trying to get a GSX/TSI. Im not looking forward to the bad drivers/door dings/potholes/snow etc., but I gotta go back to school...

Heh, you're probably about the same as here! I'm down in good ol' Orem. We've got nothing here really... I actually did see a DSM a while ago though, he wanted to race but not talk really... It was a non-turbo though. Anway, I have no idea what kind of car he drove there! Do you have a lot of quick cars down there?

Yeah, there are a few running around. A couple supras, VR4s, tons of DSMs. I have a 97 TSI (modded), my other friend has a 95 TSI (modded), his brother has a 97 GST (modded), and my friends wife has a 95 TSI (stock).

I know this is late but I'm always late for everything. Utah has a growing ## of moddded DSM's in the Utah county area. I've never seen any of you guys but it would be great to get the DSM population together. I live in Springville and I know of about 7 of us with lightly to heavliy modded cars that range form Orem to Payson. I also work at Sound Warehouse on the corner of 8th north and state. My car use to be parked right out front until winter came and I decided to build the motor. There are a few guys that work at the Mitsu dealership in Orem and there is a local chapter of Club DSM here i believe the website is http://apache.xmission.com/~inline4t/. Whoever is out there give me a holla. It's great to know that we're not the only one's that have been "enlightened" in Utah.

I keep telling him that I have a stock turbo and everything he needs sitting in my garage but he doesn't see the need for it. Oh well. AS for the rest of the cars, they are: '96 silver GSX, '91 white Tsi, '90 and '91 siver Tsi, '90 white GS Turbo,'91 black GSX, '92 Maroon Tsi and '97 maroon GST. My car is parked for the winter but I'm always at work so feel free to stop in....

Mine is I think then same model as yours, a 90' red eagle talon Tsi, except I have a bent headlight from a stupid semi's tire that blew in front of me. Anyway, do you still have the red one? I should stop by sometime and check out your stuff!

yeah I still have my car. Mine is a '91 one though, and it's pretty well parked for the winter. That sucks about your head light. So far I've been pretty lucky, no one has hit mine and I haven't wrecked it yet either. That's cool if you guys stop in, i'm always here

I'll be down there. I'm looking for a place to stay for the night though. I'm not going to race since my car won't be quick enough yet. My friend Kevin White is going to race and I really want to watch Rasheed run. His DSM is supposed to run 10's or low 11's there from what I've heard.

I expect to see a killer turnout from the DSM club for the race on the 20th. We'll have few possibles in the outlaw class, and I think the street class will be dominated by DSMs. Street class is 12.99 or slower and "full interior", full exhaust, radial tires. I think they're going to let the "full interior" thing slide though. There should be at least 5 DSM's capable of running mid-low 13's. Probably at least a few more who aren't members of our list. Last year the slowest qualifier for the street class was like a mid-high 14. So the DSM camp should do pretty well.
