Instrument cluster swap?

Anyone know if a 91 GS turbo instrument cluster will work in a 90 TSI without a bunch of wireswapping? The engine harness is a 91 spliced into the 90 dash connector so basically the same wires running up to the dash.

I think that the TACH will not work on the 91 cluster if you swap it on a 90 car. Something about the tach signal being different on the 90 cars.

Well thats part of the reason I wanted to do the swap. My tach is inop now. Remember that the complete engine asy, engine wireing harnes, and pcm are out of a 91. Everything is connected to the engine correctly and from what I can tell its connected to the dash harness correctly. My last straw was going to be swapping the cluster but I also want to be sure most of my time wont be finding blown fuses, reconnecting wires, and curseing. It would be easier just to wait and buy a monster tach to replace the inop one now if they wont swap with ease.
