Since the downfall of pics.dsm.org most of the similar threads with pics are now useless so I figured why not start a new one.

Post pictures of your 1-2-3G ride, lowered (before and after pics are welcome too). Please include a discription of your suspention setup and your personal thoughts on it. Take it away boys... and girls.

1998 GS-T / 18" Enkeis / Tanabe Sustec Pro SS REAL coilovers

I can put this car into hovercraft mode if wanted, the suspension is height and dampning adjustable. So I can slam the car down, and make it super stiff for long freeway-based trips. Fun stuff.

Hey guys, I also forgot to ask if you could specify the drop of your suspention.

Thanks

backpack09: I live in PA, second to worst roads in the country, and have to be careful. You just have to watch what is coming up and take it at an angle if there is any question in your mind that you might hit. I found it is becoming natural to take all dips and speed bumps at an angle now.....even if I'm not driving my car, just because of habit.

TaylorSPL
06-21-2002, 04:51 PM
How big of a drop I have doesn't effect the way I drive I am always kind to my cars stock height or not. You would be amazed at what being careful can do and I like in the land of potholes Tucson, AZ. For a decently sized city it has the worst overall road conditions out of anywhere I've ever lived.

95 GSX with Ground Controls (8" springs and GC upper mounts in front / 7" springs and stock rear mounts) and Tokico Illuminas, lowered about 1" all around.

Probably could go down further, but (1) I want to minimize scraping, (2) not lose too much suspension travel for racing, and (3) already have car aligned and no need for camber ktis at this height; have just the perfect amount of rear negative camber :)

Still looks much better than the stock AWD 4x4 height haha

mighty max: how does your set up handle and ride? Just curious cause I am considering the agx's with some coilovers and I want to know if it is a big difference. Ride quality can be sacrificed, I just want a really solid handling car.

That is what is modernly called a 'Two Hook'!!! It us used when your car is about to get towed and pulled up on a flatbed truck. Usually the tow-truck guy will extended the chain under the front bumper to hook up to your frame (or stock tow hole). If you have a body kit, the chain will destroy your body kit in order for the car to be pulled up on the flatbed truck.

-To save the body kit and your money on all that expensive paint and body work, this so called 'Tow Hook' is used to get the car onto the tow truck.

-Oh yea, it is also used to pull you to the starting line at the track hehe... But since I only run 13.9 with slicks on my stock T25 w/o a BC, I'd rather save myself from the embarrassment of people expecting my car to be fast.

I'd just threaten to file a lawsuit against the tow truck company if they destroyed my car. I'm sure they would come around real quick. But hey, if you like it...to each his ownhttp://smilies.networkessence.net/cwm/cwm/piss.gif

For some odd reason, to me, that doesn't look like 3 inches at all...unless you raised it in the pic, that doesn't look like 3 inches, because even at 2", on a 1G, the wheels nearly tuck. I'll have pics of mine up in a few days, after i get my digital camera for :tree:

Ground Control Coilovers with KYB AGX shocks courtesy of shox.com. The car is honestly barely lowered in that picture. It is about 6 rungs down the sleeve of the coilovers. It could probably go another 2 inches lower, but it would hardly be driveable.

This is on Progress springs, supposed to be a 1.3" drop, but it ended up being more like 2" in the front, and 1 1/4" in the rear. I got them used, already "broken in". It doesn't look higher in the rear, because in these pics, it's not. My car was loaded down with 500 pounds of my stuff, because I was moving that same week (This was just last December). :D But take my word for it, it looks great, and you can't really tell unless you look for it, but it kinda gives it a raked stance. It'll look awesome once I get a '97 bumper.

I have Tokico Illumina's, set to 4 in the front, and 3 in the rear. It rides alittle harsh on bumpy roads and bumpy highways (I drove 3500 miles like this, ouch. I literally got a headache from the bad highways), but for average driving conditions, it rides good. If I lower the shock settings any, my car pogo's a little (bounces up and down).

The camber kits are Ingalls fully adjustable (I think +1 to +3 degrees). They work nicely, but are kind of costly.

My wheels are 17x7.5 (I forgot the offset), with Dunlop 225/45/ZR17's. They stick very well. I have no rubbing issues, even around hard corners.

All said and done, the suspension was a pain in the a** to do, but well worth it. It handles better than I thought it would. Like it's on rails. All I need now are swaybars to eliminate some more of that (slight) body roll, and i'll be set!

Yes, I do believe they came that way...Every 2g I know with a pin stripe has the same one....I just removed mine a few months ago...silver car with a black pin stripe just like yours...I found the easiest way is to use a hair dryer and gently peel...don't get it too hot or it'll peel the paint along with the pin stripe...I found out the hard way about using the hair dryer after working for over an hour on one quarter panel and breaking many nails...

Yeah I really wasnt sure if they were factory but doesnt really matter now because I took them off yesterday. It took a really long time but I used a blow dryer and then I went out and bought this stuff its called super sol. I got the kind made for taking off adhesive of car paint, it worked pretty good. For not buffing it or anything you cant tell they were on there. For anyone whos gona take them off I recomend you buy the super sol adhesive remover, I used it to take off the the sticky part left from when I took off the mitsubishi and gsx sticks off too.:)

Well look at this, I started this thread a year ago minus 5 days and now I have something to add myself. Tokico 5 way adj. socks + Eibach Pro-Kit + Home-made camber kit. I simply can't get enough to driving the car. It handles like a dream. Oh wait! I have RM Racing sway bars going in soon!

^^^ That is very
How do those Eibach's ride (compared to stock?)? I've heard that they're somewhat softer than most, so i'm thinking about getting some because my Progress springs are stiff as hell.
Looks good. :)

BTW, you'll love those RM sway bars. ;) I do.

DieharD

The Pro-Kit rides nice and soft but noticeably firmer than stock springs. I don't think I'll every need it to be firmer for every day driving. For autox days I got my adjustable shocks to stiffen it up though. I can't stand stiff rides, so this is exactly what I've been looking for.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear. :) I'll probably change over and sell my Progress springs after I get my T3/T4 installed. :rudolph:

This is my buddy RYNO98GSX's car. He's got some super low profile rubber bands on his 17's so it looks like someone put a lift kit on his car. It looks good when it's rolling, but stopped it kinda looks like a mini monster truck :)

j/k ryan..

I think this looks pretty damn mean. Nothing much looks meaner and cleaner than a lowered 2GB on rims. 'Cept for one with a RDSM CF front lip. mmmm

Anyway, yeah.. Just photoshop, but it should give you a good idea of what it would look like.

Get Taboo's adjustable toe/camber/kit ($80) and you will fix that problem. Mine sits 2.0" lowered and my camber in the back is perfect -1.8deg. both sides.

Holy crap, stickers!

That is the most beatiful 2G Talon, ever. The 97 Eclipse front end lines up PERFECTLY with the talon side skirts. I've always hated the 97 front end with 95 Eclipse side skirts, the car always looks nose heavy from the side, but your combo works perfect.

And I'm not normally a fan of black wheels, but against the white car with the signature black roof, it looks just right. The drop, wheel gap, and camber are all dead-on.

Kudos!
