Do you buy DSM parts on the web?
Misundaztood
07-21-2003, 05:15 PM
Nope. AutoZone carries everything I need.;)
It's kinda a grey area for me. I find many DSM vendors and product info on the web, but I do the purchasing over the phone, or I go there direct. I give the web credit in one way or another for the vast majoriy of my purchases. Not all DSM vendors that I've used have a convenient web ordering system, but I don't let that stop me, just as long as there is some reliable way of getting through.

Ditto. I am in central VA and there is virtually nothing but crappy import stores that come nowhere near online prices after shipping!! Plus almost every reputable vendor will talk to you on the phone and answer any questions.

When you start getting into the more expensive products you almost have to buy them online here in Kansas unless you can find a used product from others which happens alot here. We also go to junk yards and search for random stuff there. Lots of homemade intakes, IC piping, boost controllers, etc.

Never heard of Maperformance.com before. Guess I'll have to check them out. I've ordered from slowboy before twice and never ran into issues but they do seem to get an awful lot of bad press.

I've never bought a part in person. Never. Always cheaper online is what I find. Have friends on the web that can get me good deals on new parts so I go through them. Hell, back in the early '00's I rode BMX and I never bought a part in person, only from the web. Had the hookup back then too.
It is probably due to my location and availabilities of products and decent prices but I find e-shopping to be the e-shit!

unfortunately yes. i hate that the web has made it impossible for local shops to compete pricewise because i prefer to support local businesses, but i'm not rich, so i have to buy the best deal online. besides, nobody locally really stocks anything anyway, so they would have to order it too, which means i could just as easily order it, get it faster and cheaper.

i second the shipping problems with SBR. i got screwed. ordered bunch of parts, took WAY too long (4 weeks or so) and i call to cancel and they want to charge me a restocking fee from my 1000+ dollar purchase. i wont ever do business with them again. they should have gotten shit out the first time OR let me know if anything was backordered then i would have been alright with it but i was never told anything was on backorder. had to call numerous times and got the run-around. Ive convinced plenty of others not to even order from them these days after telling the story.

Depending on what I need I can go to the junkyard. But alot of the critical parts were already taken so the internet always has a listing for a contact or a place to order parts.
