for those of you who've done it, what do you clean it with and is there any sort of adjustment to the BISS or anything else necessary after you put the TB back in place? In general, is it hard to take off?? i have only about 2 hrs to do this..
thanx

Just get some air throttle body cleaner... I don't take mine off to clean it, but if you do take it apart, you should still be done with it fairly quickly less than 1 hour. Make sure you have a new gasket if you are taking it apart.

You don't need to replace the gasket if your careful unless it's really trashed or dry rotted or something. ;)

id much rather not take it off if i can do so, something i did not think was possible.. by air TB cleaner i think u mean something that blows air into the TB to clean it, is that so?

Yep...It's called "Air Throttle Cleaner" Just go to AutoZone or your Local Parts dealer...They should have it there.

It's fairly easy...take your intake out...spray it in the TB, then take a rag, and clean all the gunk. you might want to put some on a clean rag, open the throttle and clean the back of the plate too. Make sure you clean around the plate.
I know...It's the only easy thing to do on an eclipse. hehehe

The gaskets are metal but they seem to be directional.
I cleaned mine with the car running and the turbo inlet and outlet were not connected. It was very loud, and started to hurt my ears. :eeek:

I clean my TB and Intake about once every 100 miles with a NOS wet setup, 118 race gas/xylene mix.............it does a real nice job and is relatively fun

well, cleaned th TB this sunday. gotta tell you, it was a b@#$h getting into with a rag, so i just used a toothbrush. I never thought it was that dirty though, incredible. one thing that i noticed after is that the car runs a lil smoother, i used to have sort of hesitation problems with it when pressing the throttle slightly, not anymore, those are gone. From now on, im cleaning it every month or so. Easy to do and appears to be very beneficial!!
