Hi guys, I picked up a 90 laser free. But is has a weird electrical problem I need some help on. The car starts and runs fine but then it just cuts off. No spark at all. The car will turn over and keep spinning but no go. wait a few minutes and the car starts up again. Anybody have any ideas on where to start? 1.8L 5sp

See if there's a code stored on the ECU. To do that go to the Electrical section at: VFAQ.COM (http://www.vfaq.com) and look for the link that says 1G CEL Codes or something on that line of thought. ;)

Also pull your ECU out and see if the caps need to be changed or if they have eaten the board. On the later case, you might end up buying another ECU.:(

it is definately the ECU, it happened to mine and they same thing with a friends.

thanks, it turned out to be leaky capacitors in the ecu. Had my friend solder new ones and we are runnig now.

having same problem with 96 eclipse 2.0 non turbo. What exactly do you mean by the ECU? Are you referring to the coil pack or the main power control module? Please reply. dl_now@hotmail.com
