Well when I did my head gasket a while ago I had the head rebuilt by a local machinist and he also shaved it a little bit for me. I just told him if it can be done to go ahead and do it for me... just to do it somewhat mildly. He said he had to research it a little and would get back to me. Well he never really got back to me about it but when I picked it up he told me "You will like it and notice a little difference." I just assumed he was talking about b/c it was rebuilt and wont have blowby ... crap like that. Well after it was all installed and running again I deffinatly did notice a difference. Anyways yesterday I got around to doing a compression test and it was between 197-200psi across the board. hehe, very cool. I think that makes my cr about 9.5:1? Can anyone verify that? Also what do you guys think something like this adds in horsepower? Its not like a huge difference but its noticable. So far I like it. I was too scared to do anything to the block, the rings will probably break/leak next.

1992eclipse,

200psi seems a little high for 9.5:1 CR. My SR20DE-powered ride has 9.5:1, and the compression specifications are 178psi. Sounds like you either have higher compression, or a little carbon buildup. :D Either way, no big deal. Let me ask you: What is the factory compression of the 4G37?

BTW where can I see some pics of your 1.8?

I have a shaved head and decked block, no complaints here.... Make sure you get adjustable cam gears if you shave it too much.

Well I was really just guessing with that 9.5:1 number. Anyone feel free to respond with what they think my cr might be! Stock the 1.8 has a 9.0:1 cr at 185psi. Right now mine, like I said before, is at about 200psi.

I have some pics of my car on a website that I have been making for awhile, the site isnt even close to done but you can see some pics. http://www.geocities.com/eclipse1992ct/index.html
