im about to say goodbye to my baby unless i can figure out a way to deal with the transmission. It's an AT and the 4th gear does not engage, as soon as its time to shift into 4th, OD, the tranny slips into Neutral. Do i need a rebuild? if yes, than im gonna try to sell the car since i got no money to spend. its just a shame, ive put so much money and time into her, it freaking hurts. i cant even drive the car since i cant pass the inspection cuz of the tranny. i've read some threads here and have seen the $150 for repar come up.. how is that and where is that, i am in NY.... any advice is wellcome..

Sounds like your end clutch is fried... a new one will run you about $75... might as well through in a shift kit to $75

Try the End Clutch upgrade and the EC seals first. This whole process takes about an hour to two (if you reeeeally take your time to do it) from the time you jack up the car and pull the wheel. VFAQ here: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/ec.htm I have the clutches (55 shipped)but no seals. I am going to order some.
The other problems could be broken/loose wire, TCU (doubtful) or others.
Don't give up on it just yet. Ch
