Hi All,

I own a 1995 Eagle Talon Tsi. I've had some trouble lately with the F4A33 transmission. The symptoms that I've noticed are:

1.) The transmission exhibits occational "stop bump."

2.) The transmission bucks when the accelerator pedal is pressed. This occurs when the car is cold, In drive [D], and only the first time that the pedal is pressed.

3.) The transmission downshifts harshly when the accelerator pedal is pressed. This occurs when moving between twenty and thirty miles-per-hour.

4.) The transmission unexpectedly downshifts. An example of this is while coasting down a hill.

The transmission fluid has recently been flushed and replaced with ATF+4. An Alto end-clutch upgrade has been installed. With this expection, the car is stock.

Any thoughts that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry I dont have answers to the first two, but #3 is completely normal if you are accellerating at WOT. That is the "sweet spot" for accellerating. The transmission shift to first gear and the car takes off. If not at WOT then something could be wrong. Also #4 is completely normal. Mine has done that for the 2 years I have owned my car, and I have never had any problems (knock on wood).

3 and 4 are what its supposed to do, and 1 and 2 are normal also, mine sometimes clunks when coming to a stop, if it does it all the time then its bad, but every once in a while is normal. 2 when the tranny fluid isnt warmed up it does not operate 100 percent of how it should, mine shifts really slow and clunky right at first when its cold.
