Has anybody taken their car to the tranny shop to get the shift kit and end clutches installed. How much did this end up costing? Any type of warranty to go along with the work? Any suggestions for tranny shops in Chicago?

When I was quoted prices for labor it came up to be 6hrs book time for the shift kit and endclutch. My shop I goto charges about $55hr so, it would cost me $330. End price being $480 ($75 shift kit + $75 alto end clutch).
I was just reading on the A/T DSM list that one guy paid about $200 for parts and labor (end clutch and shift kit both). Consensus from several other members was that he got a really good deal.

Yea, I do feel good about the deal. I dug up the reciept to make sure I wasn't speaking any bull to the a/t list, and the total for labor and materials (tranny fluid & filter) was $225. The tech said it took roughly 3 hours to do the valve body upgrades (shift kit) and about 1 hour for the end clutch's. This was a very large but performance friendly tranny shop that had done valve body upgrades before, just not on a "little 4-banger". My guess is that if they are quoting 6+ hours, they are either padding the bill (common practice I hear), or have never done one before and are anticipating the time it will take to figure out what they are doing. Just fyi

Advanced Automotion in Glenview, IL (847) 724-6400 . Guy's name is John Correa. About $350, you supply the kit, fluid, filter and pan gasket though.
Tony, I'm a little confused. So the $225 did NOT include the actual cost of the shift kit and end clutch parts, but did cover the tranny fluid, filter, and all labor?

Sorry, I bought the shift kit and end clutches from Tony @ Dunrite for $75 each plus shipping. so $150 +$225 is a total of $375. Hope I didn't confuse anyone there. The $225 was JUST install, fluid, and filter. OH, I also bought him a beer after the shop closed cuz he was really cool about everything. so tack on another $2 :)
