I've been informed that my car has the odd transmission which they don't make a shift kit for, so what if I went to a local scrapyard and took one out of a 96 Eclipse, would it still fit, would it cost a lot to do the swap? Help me out here guys :)

Umm...
You swapped a 95' AT 420A tranny for another 96' AT 420A tranny?? From what I know those trannies are the same. I believe that the shift kits that the guys on this forum talk about are made for the 4G63 AT trannies not the 420A AT trannies. I am not disrespecting you or anything the like, it's just odd for me to hear something like this. Someone care to correct me here???

The guy who told me this is the guy who runs plymouthlaser.com he said the 95 GS has a chrysler tranny, he has a list of shiftkits on the site and every year/model is listed except 95 GS. Maybe he was wrong, I dunno. I just need a straight answer on it =/

All 2G NT cars (95'-99') equipped with a 420A have Chrysler trannies on them. Chrysler designed both: the engine and the tranny on the 2G NT cars.

Notice the Oddball in the bunch.......... I have a list of what the Alto End Clutch works with on my site......... Not every car in the world either. They work on other cars but did not list them due to the fact they are not related to DSMs in my opinion.

NOW, Transgo may make a kit and Translab may as well. Check my site soon and I will have Translab contact info on there for you to ask them if they have it.

Wait a minute ther Charles,

I am a bit confused. This is my situation:

I have a 1998 ECLIPSE GS. I bought the Translab shift kit and Alto end clutch kit from Dunrite in Nov. 2001 thinking it would be good for me to use on my car. However, after reading up I realized I was an idiot because everyone on dsmtalk told me it was only for stock turbo cars.

Now I am hearing that it can be used on the NT DSMs 1995-1998?

That would great. I really, really want to put the Translab in my 1998 GS if possible. Get back to me on that, please. And let me know if I can put the Alto end clutches in my 1998 GS.

I am still somewhat confused as to what is happening.

I see what you mean....... Well, it looks like the 2.4 L had a F series and it may work.

The 2.0 has the chrysler tranny and is a no go.... Look around the tranny for the numbers on the list in the previous post. THe F (Mits) are on the bell housing (kinda close to the dipstick).

Did you tell Tony (Dunrite) what car you had???

He said it would work for my car and he insisted. After I found out it didn't work, I didn't want to spend the money and time to send it back. I thought I'd sell it to a dsmtalker. Plus, Tony is hard to talk to seriously. So as of now I guess I am still trying to sell the translab and alto kits
