View Full Version : ATTN A/T owners w/Big 16g & 550's

I have come to a dead end while tuning this car. My Mods are:
Big16g
550's
FP Re-wire
Blitz spec-r boost controler
S-AFC
N1 Turboback, No CAt.
HKS SS BOV.
Stock I/C and piping.

I tuned my car on the dyno after the turbo install and only got 150WHP? finally got it to 196 WHP,But I got almost 230WHP on a t-25 before.

We went out and did some loggiong today, and Turns out I was pulling timing around the 5k-7k area. it would go from like say 18 to 4 or -3 or something. and o2 was at like .88
Car still felt fast. BUT we got it back to where it wasnt droping the timing,a nd o2 was at .92 - .94 all the wat across, and the car feels like stock?? seriously feels like a damn honda civic automatic or something.
Im running 18 PSI, tried dropping boost....slower..raised to 20 psi.....felt as fast as it did at 18 psi.
could it just be that I dont have upgraded pipes, or FMIC??
theres no boost leaks.
Im getting frustrated.
So Basicly the car felt pretty fast before I was running to close to the edge of blowing up, now that I have everything back down to safe levels where its not pulling timing, it feels SLOWER.
Any advide apreciated!

I don't see an upgraded FP or at least an upgraded UICP...:(

im guessinga fp will allow me to lean out the SAFC more cause of kmore fuel pressure. Maybe the stock FP isnt enough and thats why its leaning out.....

:scholar: I agree you should upgrade your FP. Your said your running 20psi on the stock FP!:eeek:How big is your turboback exhaust? Are you still running your stock BOV?

you do need a FP if you try to run with those mods. My buddy had a similar problem though. He's car got 230WHP on my Gtech with the stock SMIC and big16g. He's got a 2g 5spd. Well we couldn't get over 17 degrees of timming on the stock SMIC and going over 15psi didn't make any difference and only pulled more timming. Well we installed a Supra SMIC and it pulled considerably harder. We also tuned for .94v at 17-18psi. Now the WHP reading on the GTECH went up to 291WHP. IT really pulls a lot harder then it used to. Running any higher boost then 17-18psi on pump gas only made it loose power and feel slower.

Damn it boy! Big16g & stock FP. I'm surprised it hadnt burned a piston yet. Get u a 255lph FP & some hard pipes. Go tune it & look out!
