I have a 94 1.8, and I need to know what I should do with $500. Don't say "sell your car and get a turbo", cause I love my NT. Please recomend something. Oh and the car is still stock.

I say invest it ;) Also, crack a Coke not a beer cause your only 16 ;) You will love turbo once you ride in one but I'm not gonna tell you to sell your N/T and buy a turbo.

My buddy picked up a 90 Tsi AWD with 100,000 on the clock, no lifter tick, tranny in good shape and new timing belt for $1000. All it needed was tires and paint and of course a shitload of mods :D Shop around, there are good deals if you look but just don't go and buy the first one you see. Do a lot more research here first ;)

I bought a 1990 FWD with 180,000 miles on it, running for $400.
Then the money started to go into the car and I can't stop :) .

What I did with my first $500 (aside from replacing all the brake components) was buying an Injen intake and 2 1/4" exhaust. It was over 500, but you could find both for less I'm sure. Replace anything that will need replaced, make sure it's reliable first and foremost I'd say. Just my .02

you could always put it in a brown sack and drop it on my front door... as a donation to the sleeping founder of all things 1.8... but that would only bring good fortune....

id recomend getting everything working and then invest it in suspension, our cars will never beat a gsx in a straight line but i am living proof that you can beat one in the twisties :). you can get a set of AGX's for about 500 and they will improve your handling by incredible amounts. as far as the engine, id do the free mods, our cars sound awsome with the hacked aircan and a k&n, but as for the rest of it you can pretty much leave it alone cause other than nitrous or fabricating a turbo setup your not going to get much out of it. just my $.02 worth
my mods: free mods, wheels/tires (get good tires if you dont have them) Sportlines, AGX's, and a shift knob.

You've got to be kidding. Maybe if the GSX was running completely stock suspension and yours was modified but modified GSX suspension versus your non AWD

his suspension was stock but he was on good rubber, and another thing that i have on a gsx is that i weight about 2500 LBS! thats a big difference. i have walked on (as far as i can tell) non-stock mustangs through the twisties. im not claiming to be a bada$$ driver or anything but i am competent enough to keep nicely in front of them. and im in no way saying that i can beat all gsx's im just saying that i kept in front of one and i knew the guy and he told me straight up that i was fast, thats saying something coming from a turbo dsmer.
and please dont reply to my post other than to disagree on what to use the $500 on, there is no sense in kiling this thread any worse than it already is.
back on topic however... i was talking to some of my friends about this and we came up with some steps:
1. FREE MODS
2. TIRES, good tires make a world of difference, get some z rated tires youll be happy.
3. SUSPENSION, from my original post, plus sway bars.
4. SEATING, if you like to drive fast in the twisties and your interior is like every other 1.8 then i would recomend a seat or 2 and maybe a harness.
then you can put whatever you think is going to help you most, like header exaust ect. in our opinion you would benifit from these the most.
hope this helped and sorry about the arguing in your thread.

This is what I would do with 500 dollars for that 1.8. DROP THE DAMN MONEY IN THE BANK AND COLLECT 150 Dollars. I can get a 625 for a T3, the perfect turbo match for the 1.8. Then you have to pay shipping so just believe 25 bucks for that to be shipped where you are. I mean seriously guys, save up the money go turbo, and stop getting pounded, actually win some battles with a lighter car and a lower transmission.

If you could find me 2 racing seats for under 300 bucks, I'd like to know where to get them, because the cheapest I've ever seen even half decent seats was like $325, not tryin to be a smartass, but if you know somethin I don't, lemme in on it.

Nobody makes a header for a 1.8L, you'd have to have one fabricated, or just extrude hone the existing exhaust manifold.;)
Oh, BTW, have you decided what to spend the 500 bucks on yet?
