auto tran rebuild 91 talon

I was told by the dealer that my auto tranny is shot. I will get a list of codes that he pulled.

I'm on a tight budget, sooooooo,

Is there any types of rebuilds that I can do. I'm pretty handy, have replaced dohc head, etc., but I'm a little nervous about an auto trans.

I've read about end clutch rebuilds etc, but I don't know what problems they cause.

Right now the car will run, but it shifts very slowly, has no pickup, and slips (like a failing manual clutch) while driving at speed.

Any help out there?

If you take it out yourself and put it back in you can save some cash.

You should be able to find one for under 1,000.
