I've been doing my research on HIDs for my car for some time know and have decided to go with a Phillips kit, but still have some questions. Which is the better Phillips kit, the stage 2 6000k vs the Phillips Ultinon 6000k kit. The stage 2 kit is the one with red looking plugs connectors to the hid bulb, while the ultinon kit has wires directly connected to the hid bulb, so it seems. Next question. Can anyone with a 6000k hid kit recommend a good set of matching H3 fog bulbs. And last question. Im also thinking of going with a good set of hid projectors like from a BMW or a Hella projector, or what not. Can someone recommend a good set of hid projectors that will work with the light housing of my car. Also, www.autolamps-online.com is were I plan on buying my hids, if you guys/gals are wondering. Thanks.

damn you 2g's and your ability to use projectors :(
i would also like a matching set of fog lights my HID's are 7500k
could you let me know if you see any fog light HID systems for under 400 dollars, the cheapest I have seen for driving aux lights is 499.99 online for them.
btw. go with the kit that has a replaceable bulb. you probably will never have to change them (unless you dont like the color and feel the need to upgrade them)

Go with the autolamps kit, the 2 wire one, NOT the one with the big red plug. The big red plug presents problems when you "try" to seal up the headlamp with the stock hatch covers.
Also, note that the 6000K ultinons actually put out less light than the 4100K ones.
Hella 90mm projectors are good and fairly cheap projectors.

on other forums without getting the higher K bulbs people have gotten pulled over more often for to bright of headlights, that is why i went with the 7500k because I dont have projectors and needed something that looks more like a projector in color without one.
6000 - 7500k and I have never been flashed at (people thinking my brights are on) and never been pulled over and i've driven behind cops at night and right in front of them, and our communities around me are pretty anal about that kind of sutff

Thanks again guys. PUGSX, hey I really like your lighting setup. Im looking at the pic on your sign and thats exactly what Im looking for. I've been doing more research and discovered you also have the 6000k Ultinon with hella projectors, awesome work man! PUGSX, what kind of fog lights are those, they go very well with your hids. And were do you recommend I buy some hella 90mm projectors. CyByte, good points man.

I'll try to get some links that sell them new.
the best projectors for cost. look for audi's and bmw's at the junk yard ;)
also on ebay you can get a set of projectors from either of those cars at pretty fair prices.
I looked into them but they are to long for my houseings in the 1g's

Raped, If you click on my sig, there should be a link there to my lighting setup.
TurboSpyder: You can buy Hella 90mm projectors from two places.

Hella 90mm projectors come in H7 and H9 style bulbs. If you do get the autolamps kit in 9006 style, you will have to rig something up to mount the bulbs to the hella projectors. One solution is to get the HID kit in either H7 or H9 style to fit the hella projectors, BUT you won't be able to use them in the stock headlight housing.
As for the fog lights, they are in real life more yellow than what the pic suggest. They came free from autolamps, i got them to throw in those fog bulbs for free :) You should ask for them free, i'm sure they'll give them to you too.

PUGSX, do you know the difference between the H7 and H9 hella projectors. Are the projectors the exact same thing, just meant for different bulbs. Or are they totally different (projector). I'm asking this because I cant find a set of H7 hella projectors, only H9. Also, pic on your sign, is that a picture with or without the hella projectors. Been wondering for the longest time. Thanks.

It's the same projector, just with different bulb styles. I think the H9 has a higher rating than the H7 too. Is PUMA out of the H7's? That's where i got mine.
One thing different between the H7 and H9 is the way the bulb is secured to the housing. The H7's uses a spring clip (like ours) and i think the H9 is some kinda twist-in system. IMO, i think the H7 is easier to modify to mate a standard D2S HID bulb. However, if you get the appropriate re-based HID bulbs, then there will be no issue i guess.
The lights in my sig are the projectors.

PUGSX, last questions man, sorry:D. I've got
everything ordered and need to know a few last things.
How did you do it to take apart the headlight lens, in order to install the hella projector? Same thing goes to putting it back together. How long did it take you (both headlights) from start to finish? And how hard was it for you to do, a PITA or not that bad.
I hope my install goes smoothly. Dont want to mess anything up. Sorry for bugging you so much, it's just that you have done this before and seem to be the best person to talk to.

I used a heat gun ($20-30) to soften the adhesive around the lens. Then pry it open, it takes a while. Like 5-10 mintues a side of heating and prying. Some people have used an oven to heat up the adhesive too. As for putting it back together, use the heat gun to warm up the adhesive all around the rim and then press the parts together. I've never needed to use additional RTV or sealent. The stock stuff seems to be very reusable and i have no leaks of fogging problems.
It took me more than 50 hours to complete the project. Mostly due to the fact that i had to do some modifications to mount a 9006 bulb into a H7 projector. Adjustment and placement of the bulb also too me a while to get right. If you have the correct bulb style, it should take you considerably less time. One thing to note. When you mount the projectors in the housing, make sure the high beam still "shines where it should".
Initially, i ended up with perfect low beams and the high beam were way too low. i have to open up the lights and adjust again.
I'd say the project is kinda PITA, mostly due to the adjustments needed to get it perfect. I'll give you one tip, do NOT put the lens back on until you have just the housing bolted back into the car, and have tested your high beam and low beam positions, as well as ensure you cutoff line is horizontal.

I've been trying to find some H3 fog lights that are as blue/white as my APC projectors. I've tried the same series APC H3 bulbs, Plasma Glow bulbs, and some other brand (which were actually the same bulb as the APC) but they are all yellow in color. Has anybody done an H4 updrage on their fogs to get the brighter light effect?

-Jesse Bulb changes in the stock housings wont make any changes......at least substantial ones. They will all look yellow because of the lense that the OEM lights use.

Is there any aftermarket lense to replace the OEM's? I need to get some new ones anyways because my passenger side is cracked bad.

You may want to start looking into some some aftermarket driving lights as opposed to trying to change the color and light output of the OEM fog lights.

If you're going with the autolamps kit, Don't waste your time messing with projectors. The 9006 has very similar characterstics as D2s/D2R bulbs. The Autolamp kit will correct for the the 4mm difference in the bright spot.
I would only suggest getting Hella or Bosch projectors found in BMWs or Audis. The Hella 90mm is DOT, but you don't want to mix the projector with an aftermarket kit. Why mess with a rebase when you are going through the trouble of mounting a projector? I know you guys like the Autolamp because of the 2 wires going straight back is convenient to fit through the cap, but a TRUE retrofit will allow for all this. A retro fit using Hella/Bosch projectors is good because you can get you donor ballast and bulbs from ebay or junkyards for cheap and usually from the same donor the projectors were robbed from. If you ever need a D2S/D2R bulb, they will be available anywhere. Note. Always use a wiring harness on these DIY systems. The kind with relays to start the ballasts. they can be found at suvlights.com if you don't wanna make one, and the sylvania faq has instructions on the components you'll need to DIY.
Speaking of 10000K upgrades. Read the faq page. They don't go above 6000K and really you wouldn't want them to.
I'm doing a retrofit on my prelude using BMW X5 projectors. I got them for 140 through the classifieds. I see them on ebay all the time though. Audi A6 and A4 Ecode are also outstanding donors. I've seen Autolamps kits on both cars and have been really impressed that they don't glare that bad.
For the eclipse I'm just going autolamps. So much easier for the results you get and the bulb geometry similarity.
