I knew my 95 eclipse had an aftermarket alarm on it because i have a valet switch under the steering wheel. Well i was thinking when on, that means the alarm is on. but it is the other way around, off means the valet is disabled and that the alarm turns on. anyways. i shut my door and walked inside for a few seconds and came back outside to hear my car chirp. the light on the wheel was flashing. i rocked the car to see if it had a sensor but it didn't. so i unlocked the car with my key and opened the door to hear my alarm go crazy. we popped the hood and unplugged the battery to stop it. we also cut the alarm speaker wire. but my whole problem is, the car alarm killed the car and i can't get it to turn back on. we plugged the battery back up, turned the valet switch to on(and tried off too) and nothing happens. how can i disable my alarm so my car will work again? and while i am at it, how can i get a remote to shut the damn thing off if my key doesn't work? thanks.

Put the key in and turn it ON, then turn the valet switch ON. That should make the LED turn on solid. That means your alarm is off, and the car should start normally.
If you know what kind of alarm it is, you can usually get instruction manuals off of the manufacturer's website.
An aftermarket alarm isn't gonna turn off when you unlock the door with the key. There should be a remote transmitter that you use to arm/disarm. Factory alarms are the only ones that work with the key cylinder in the door. So you armed the alarm, then set it off by opening the door, and cut the siren wire. Alarm is still armed, so the starter is interrupted.
Putting it back in valet mode will let you start it. You have to do that with the key in though.
Let me know if you need more help..

i rocked the car to see if it had a sensor but it didn't.
Motion sensors are OLD and nobody uses them anymore. A SHOCK sensor will not sense motion, but it senses a damging blow to the vehicle.
Anyway, James92TSi is correct. The valet switch should have disarmed the alarm, and put it back into valet mode. Check for a faulty switch.
Also, read the brand off of the brain, and get an instuction manual for it. There may be a different way to engage valet mode. Most of this info is available on the web.

ok james your method worked. i had to do it in this exact order, plug the battery in, open the door, turn it to on, turn the valet on. the battery was my only problem really. thanks a lot. i just got back from cruising. thanks again.
