hello,
i just got my car back today from getting the windows tinted and it looks amazing. ill have some pics up soon. im just cerious what kind and % everyone has. i just got standard black tint, limo on the back and 20% on the sides. post pics if u got em. lata!!:D

I have 21% Ray Ban tint all around in my car. I actually drove 150 miles to have it done in CT because I had seen what a great job the place had done and like the Ray Ban film so much. I don't regret it one bit although I get nervous when cops are around...I just don't want to be a target for their animosity. The silver stuff is cool, but sports an image that is too high profile for my taste.

previous owner said NY state limit was 20% cuz he got stopped all the time, and the car would pass... official tint association type website says NY has NO tint limits. NY law says 35%... very conflicting. i don't think my 20% is dark enough, hell maybe its not even 20...

The pic is 20% all the way. Since i had it done (4 years ago) i've been busted too many times to remember, been hassled countless times, and have recently (last month) finally changed the fronts to 35% to help ease the mind of the local authority

I have all of mine at 35% - the max legal tint. I used to have 15% or so on the back, but I like having it at a uniform tint better.

With my black interior during the day it is almost adequate (I would like it a bit darker) but I definitely dont have any glare issues with the sun..

I have some black tint or something on the backs of my car.

I hate it. The tint can't be older than 5 years old and it's completely bubbled up and looks like absolute shit.

Anyone know if it's easy to remove?

i had a guy do it that used to run a place called sunshade. i guess hes the best around and id agree. my tints look awesome. he charged me $220 and i got limo back and 20%sides. hes located at 14mile and woodward in royal oak. if you want his # let me know. lata

Actually if I'm not mistaken the NY tint law is much more strict than that. There's a website that has all the state-by-state tint info on it. I think NY says something like any percent on the back window but max of 73% on any windows that are part of a door. Like I said, I have 21% all the way around and have never been stopped but I know plenty of people who have. I guess I'm just lucky. I live on MA now and the cops here are a bit more lenient :)

This one is conflicting though...it says what I mentioned before (70%). The rest of the links I found seem to indicate that the second is correct, but again, I could be wrong.

I know the laws are put in place for police officer safety which I can 110% understand. I wouldn't want to walk up to a random car not being able to see who was inside and if they had a gun or not. I have nothing to hide though so I'm not worried.

I was told it was 35% so I got 20%. When I got pulled over and they checked my tints they said they were 12%, yeah right :rolleyes: . Then I got lectured on that the legal limit was 70% :confused:

connecticut state law dictates 35% but they say they usually let u off w/ 32%, but this is only on the front side windows. the windshield cant be tinted, but anything in the rear is fair game i guess. i had 26% all round except the windshield and my friend had 17%. the cop was a dick 2 me though.

I don't have tints yet, but was considering 20% all around and 50% on the windshield? would it be wise to do the windshield? Would i have bad visibillity problems at night and/or bad weather conditions? Hell can you even notice 50%?

on the windshield 60% even is not noticable to you or the outside but it WILL darken up the entire cars tint... less light inside the less you can see inside

same here in wisconsin sort of. 50% on the sides, unless you have a doctors notice or catholic sciences note, then 35% is OK. and the law itself states "within a tolerance of 3%" the same goes for ALL windows (including rear) unless the car is equipped with side mirrors, then 5% visible light is allowed, on the rears

but the cops here in Stevens Point, WI, are real dicks too! i'm usually scared to drive cause it's no fun anymore looking out for the cops all the time. then again, they don't like the illegal by law "no front license plate" tinted windows, no door handles, stereo, exhaust, etc etc etc... they usually bug me for a lot of stuff. but i'm sure you all get the same thing and are used to that as well.

no i didnt get a ticket but he said if i guessed within $100 of the ticket he wouldnt give me one. i guessed $200 and it was $121 but he began 2 lecture me till i told him that the tint must have been on there for a good number of years (since my aunt picked up the car in '95). it was crap tint to, y'know, that stick on crap that bubbles, i was afraid 2 back into a spot, hahaha.

i never knew you could have your front windshield tinted (in some states i guess) you cant hear, you can have a small strip on the top, and dark tint all around. ark reg. are like 25% i think. but i sorta want the black/mirror... as in like in some angles and distance, it's reflective and some it's just pure black and some you can see through (for cops)

OHIO law is 50% (weak) and they are pretty strict about it with a few exceptions. I have 2% on my Volvo Wagon and have no problems......................its a friggen family car to the max, so they dont hassle me.

The tint shop called mine limo tint , I think its around 80%. I put a light mirror tint behind the black about a week ago, but haven got a digital camera handy, broke mine on a ATV! I love when people try to look in my car at stop lights, they try to get me to roll the window down, but I dont( unless its another dsm), then race them, so they get a good look at my painted tail lights, LOL, and make like a tree. I probably got alot of people wondering who I am, but thats a good thing when you get in some trouble!!! For all they know Im a little old grandma!LOL. But there is no way they can seen in, I cant when Im standing a foot away from the car in broad daylight. the mirror tint does not make it any harder to see either! here is a pic befor the second layer mirror tint job.(sig pic)

i just got nailed for tint last week. i have 35% on sides, 5% on back, back can be w/e tint but i got a ticket. only reason i got it was caused i was doin 85 in a 55, got pulled and let off for that, but got nailed for tint, illegal exh, and no front plate (exh later to be dropped because a 2.5" HKS hipercatback is NOT loud lol)

if u dont go ridiculously dark, ull be fine, 35% sides, 5% back looks very nice, and most likely WONT get grabbed for that unless ur doin somethin dumb.

Their getting super strick about tint here. They are giving tickets, and are forcing people to come back and show them the car later with tint removed. So I'm getting a little worried. But sicne its my summer only car, I usually have the front windows down so i guess they wont harass me. I would hate to have no tint, Its awesome not having people look into your car. No one to see what they can steal.

Mine are 5% all around. I even had the sunroof tinted because once all the other windows were done, it let in too much light. :cool:

It has been about 4 years since I had mine done but I think I have 5% on the rear three windows and 35% on the side two (maybe it was 20% on the sides... who knows?).

Anyway, in a 3 1/2 year period, I have received 7 tickets for the tinting. 6 at $60/each and 1 @ $70. That is like $430 plus the $175 I paid to have it installed. Pretty sad when the window tinting is one of the most expensive single mods on the car at a total of over $600 so far.

Up here in Saskatchewan we have no problem with the back windows tinted but the side windows are another issue. It's luck if you have it on for more than a month, my friend got his sides done and the next week he had to take it off, no ticket but he had it back on the next week.


Here's mine with 5% on the back 3, sides soon to come probably at 35% I'll take my chances :)
