Go with an OEM one and look for it at: http://www.partznet.com
Ask for the Club DSM discount...

When do you know if the O2 is dead?

I know it's stupid to do instead of just getting a new one, but can't the existing o2 sensor just be cleaned? My brother's lemon of a car grand am has been getting shitty ass gas mileage, and the place he bought it from cleaned out the o2 sensor, it helped, but not much.

An O2 sensor is pretty standard equipment. Haven't had any problems with my Bosch O2 sensor at all.

I have heard that they need to be rewired in order to work correctly on our cars. But that's on the 2.0 motors because they have the 4 wire type. Maybe the 1.8 don't experience that problem given that they have the 2 wire type O2 sensor. Either way, you might want to check those 2 wires before installing the BOSCH one...;)

1.8s have a 1-wire O2 sensor. Nice and simple. :) Well, at least all the ones I've worked on. I don't have any idea how the hell that works, but apparently it does.

I have seen some at the shop that have come with the 2 wire type. A white wire and a blue one...:dunno:

Where is the 02 sensor at and is it hard to change?

The Oxygen sensor is located on the exhaust manifold, right behind the heat sheild. It's about the size of a spark plug and is the source of the only wire coming out of that side of the engine.

Mine has 2 wires, blue and white...oh, and another thing, since nobody answered my question in the other thread, where could I put the wire safely and securely if i took off the exhaust manifold cover?

I extended mine and tied it to the top of the radiator temporarily until I could figure out what to do with it. I was going to put it in a wire loom and just run it into the harness for the radiator fan wires, but decided I'd just wait until I get my EGT probe installed and zip-tie it to that.
