When I put my car in first it will grind the gear. It will do this even though the clutch pedal is hitting the floor. It only does this to first gear when I'm still moving. If I wait untill I've completely stopped then it wont grind. Do I need a new clutch or what?:(

Sounds like it could be the synchros for first gear.

You might be able to partially alleviate the problem by switching to another type of gear oil like BG Sychroshift or Redline.

Did you try adjusting the clutch and bleeding the line?

aren't you not supposed to put the car in first gear when its going over 5mph or something? Some older cars dont even let you shift into first if you're not completely stopped. I know i can't go into first gear while rolling quick. Grinding is gears, not clutch, fluid might help but if you're still moving, try dropping it into second instead of first to keep going.

streetlethal- Im putting it into first while coming to a complete and total stop, for stop signs and lights.

If the clutch fluid is full and free of air. When the gear oil in the trans breaks down sometimes 1st gear can be hard to engauge. I assume you mean like 5-7 not 30 mph. It should be changed every 30K.

One of my other cars started grinding going into first, I did adjust the engaugement point but that really wasn't the problem. I put new 75/90 gl-4 fluid in the trans and it was too thick, no change in grinding. I don't recommend it but I took a about 3/4 quart out and filled it with atf3. It works wonderfully for over 30K and still does. My 95 gs-t was the same way, I used redline MTL 70-80 gl-4 and it was great.

All i'm saying is thinner oils must help the syncros engauge better, at least that is what I have found.
