I was looking at the AEM cold air intake for the V6 Eclipses the other day. I think if you take the rubber piece that hooks to the intake manifold and flip it around so it points the other direction, the piping will go straight to the MAS sensor. It helps the V6's low end alot, read a past issue of Import Tuner to find out if that is true or not. I am willing to spend the 300 or so to try it out. Also Injen makes the same thing, look in last months Super Street for the picture. I might go with the Injen but they both seem like they would fit.:D

cool. This shop in Houston said they are in the process of making
a custom Spyder CAI but need someone in the area to fit the pipes and demo. I'm in Dallas and will be sending him some measurements, but don't know if I'll get to Houston. He said that he will give the
demo car a free CAI if you let them use your 95-99 for the fitting
and testing. If any of you are in Houston, go for it!

I'll try to find the thread and post the address...

the upper pipe from the mas to the tb should fit but the lower pipe has to be modified and also the plastic splash guard

are you sure the oval MAS on our Spyder will have a coupler
that works with the V6 kit?
I've yet to find anywhere that will sell this coupler. It's like
a 3 1/2" squashed coupler on the mas. The elbow by the TB
is a tight biatch. I have a hacked 2G pipe (flipped it) on right now but I am not thrilled about the tight fit by the battery and the hacked stock hose for the MAS connection. Damn I wish someone would just make us
a quality CAI! :realmad: It's nice to make something and save cash, but I am loosing HP and throttle with any leaks or crappy scewwed connections...

in my rage last night trying to tweak my intake setup I decided
to email RRE and Injen. RRE indicated there is/was no intake
kit due to the Spyder being small production vehicle and a CAI
would only be cosmetic anyway. I don't agree with this at all since I noticed a nice boost just going to an open filter.

Injen did write me back this morning saying that they are working on a CAI for us but don't have an ETA. Would be cool if true since
I agree a snug fit, pipe diam, bends, etc need to be calculated to
get max perf.

BTW, I have a few updated engine pics of my setup on my website if interested.

3rd generation eclipses share (i think) the same mas as 2nd gens. if not similar in size. so the silicone transistion hose that the intake comes with should work on ours. basically the short ram will fit(find a way to mount it to the body) the cold air will fit with modification to the pipe and splash guard

K, I already have a rubber adapter for the tube from the intake manifold to my MAS, so allso I need is the rest of the tubing and the filter/splash guard can be rotated on the bottom piece to make the guard point to the ground. Its all quite simple since all the pieces can move around. I talked to a person here in town who has a V6, I even looked at his intake, hell he might sell it to me cuz he wants the AEM. It will work since i have the piece needed already.

where did you get the MAS adapter sleeve? Was it for a 2000-03 V6 Eclipse or the 2.4L model? I have yet to confirm which one (or both) have the same MAS. Yea, should be able to flip the intake then with some hacking for the mounts.

its from the weapon R intake for a 96 Galant LS. Its a short ram. Look at my pics on the PIX page with the fixed up spyders
