Stock 2G Amp

Will the stock amp work with an aftermarket stereo? Or will I have to buy a new one? Any horror stories on installing these on a 2G? Thanks!

The connection to the amp is proprietary so you won't be able to use it with your aftermarket stereo. You'll also find that the dash speakers won't work after installing the head unit since those are separately driven by the amplifier alone. I spliced the amp harness under the passenger seat to get them working but it's putting a 2 ohm load on the front channel of my head unit which isn't desired. I'll be working out something different sometime soon.

I think that's incorrect, you can use the stock amp with an aftermarket head unit. Go to www.sounddomain.com (http://www.sounddomain.com) and there is an adapter for what you want. Haven't tried it yet (will be doing so very soon) but should work.
