What does anybody have to say about these Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Company EGT Gauges? I read about them on the EGT Gauge install portion of My Zero. www.myzero.com/gauges/egt.html (http://www.myzero.com/gauges/egt.html) $60 for the whole setup beats the $160 I'd be spending anywhere else.

No complaints at all. I've had one installed for over a year now. Just get the extension kit to allow you to install in anywhere.
Take a look at this for a pretty good idea and then link to the page to see how to build it.

are the leads running to the guage just copper wire? What I mean is the extension necessary or can I just use a couple of wires?

The wires to an EGT are generally Thermocouple wire...you cannot just use regular wire. And the length of the thermocouple, I believe, is set to the gauge.
