What is the difference between the two? How much was the afr?

the features are similar but the S-AFC is arguably better looking and offers more comprehensive monitoring capabilities. The super AFR has 3 more RPM points that you can adjust the a/f ratio at and has a electronic idle stabilization function that the AFC lacks. The EIDS (electronic idle stabilization thing) does away with the temporary overly rich stumble when a DSM uses a BOV that dumps to the atmosphere....or so says HKS. it is also smaller, identical in size to their boost controllers and thus the two can be stacked in a din location. the AFC offers more visually accessible data but i'm hoping the AFR will help my car run smoother and offer more fine tuning abilities.

EIDS (electronic idle stabilization thing)
You said IDLE stablization? So does it only compensate the vacuum leak at idle when you vent to atmopshere?
Or will it fix the blow off bucking too?

it is supposed to fix the bov bucking also, i doubt it would fix the sever bucking caused by the Apex'i twin chamber on our cars but others should be fine. it will also smooth the idle of cars with larger injectors and should you add a VPC or cams it should do the same according to UPRD, HKS, and Alamo motorsports

the problem with the AFR is that it doesn't have a graph. You can't really visualize the fuel compensation curve very well without that!
But at least it'll fit in our cars better than the damned AFC!

i talked to two shops about the compatibility of the VPC and Super AFR. Both came up with a completely uninformed "i don't know". not their fault, reputable shops, just not a whole lot of experience with the SAFR so far. my guess would be yes it works....hooks up the same way the S-AFC does....and its made by the same company. best bet is to call HKS. the guy there that always helps me out is phat or fat......yes that's his name....or what it sounds like on the phone. cool guy and i'm sure they can offer the best answer.

I'm interested in this too. I'm just waitng for someone else to experiment so I can evaluate any info. On paper it looks good but we all know how the real world changes things though. All in all it does seem promising. heres a link in case anyone has'nt seen it yet. Some info here.www.hksusa.com/superafr

There's a review of the HKS AFR in this month or last months Turbo magazine. The one with Lisa Kubo and the Honda on the cover. Anyways, those idiots tested it on a NT car. LOL Whoop te frickin doo. I think they ran it on a NT Integra. They said there were positive results, but I could give two shits since the car isn't even turbo. I'm so in need of one of these piggy backs, but I'm still waiting to see what is up with the HKS even though the AFC is like $285 new. Somebody please be the guinea pig and tell us if the AFR sux or not heh.

Anyone have anymore input on this thing? They are about the same price as the afc, it just depends on which one will work better or not. I dont think that I am going to use a vpc. Anyone talk to anyone and knows whether or not which ones better? Kinda a dumb question, oh well.

I have a super AFR & a VPC too... there is the "blue wire" on the AFR that you hook into the VPC, so they do work together. I called HKS about this and told me to installed this way. It helped the VPC with my idle problem due to my lumpy cams.. I hope this helps you out.
