Hey,

I don't know if any of you guys have done this but, after I performed this mod I actually noticed a differance in power. Looking under the hood, to the lower left hand corner there is a snorkel attached to the air can. Underneath the snorkel, there is a black plastic resonator box where the inter cooler would normally be. Remove the air can. The resonator should be visible now. The are 3
11mm bolts holding it in place. You will have to go from underneath of the car. I must stress that it is not that easy to take out. Once the resonator is out, I cut the front off using a Dremel with a flat cutting disk. Reinstall the resonator. In theroy it should draw more air to the air can because from the factory it is completly sealed. I am also using a Weapor-R intake. If you wanted to you could just remove the resonator and leave it out. Other people I know have done this with success. By the way I accept no responsibilty for stuff you do to your car.

yeah that does work! I remember doing that to my 1G back in the day, but I ended up just running an open K&N

I received my K&N yesterday and I also removed the aircan completely but how did you prevent it from dangling around??? btw how did you attach the filter to the MAS???

I am also planning to relocate my open K&N to where the intercooler is supposed to be for 100% cool air in an open filter!!!

You just use the clips that are supposed to clip the aircan on, to clip the K&N to the MAS. I just scanned a pic the other day of my setup, when i go back to school on monday i'll post that pic ok? it's pretty easy actually.

I used the stock air can cause my car was idleing like crap. So, I used a Dremel to cut off the upper half of the can so the filter would not bounce around. But, if your gonna attach that K&N without the can your probably gonna have to bend those clips (they suck). Good luck!

Yeah i did that same mod to that box...I thought I was the only one who noticed that thing, it pretty much does jack for us NT's. After doing it i did notice when going about 30+mph my car seemed to have a little more umph to it. Obviously cuz of fresh air.
One of these days I wanna fabricate something out of fiberglass so that the air from that box goes directly to the filter, sorta like "RAM-air"

Can water get sucked in when you cut the front of the resonator off?

Not unless you drive into a lake. I never had problems with mine.
