I'm interested in getting some Ground Control Coilovers for my 1G AWD.
I haven't heard much info.. if anyone has them, can you answer a few questions?
How low/high can you make the car?
Are they noisy?
Do I need to purchase other components? (I have AGX's..)
How easy is it to adjust height? Do you have to remove the wheel/tire?

First off, the AGX's are completely a piece of shit for our cars, they are longer than stock, so even with my GC's jacked up all the way up they still bottom out, it sucks, horrible ride, so im gonna wait till these dampers shit the bed then im gonna go for shock teks.
The coilovers are really nice, I ordered a Drag/Road Race combo, 375lb springs in the front and 250lb's in the rear i think, I dont know how high/low you can drop it but you can sure drop it, believe me, I have a 92 TSi AWD with 17" Enkei RS6's and it looks phuqin awsome, it really does, it gives the car a mean ass stance, I dropped mine almost as low as it can go, it sucks because it bottoms out when i hit a pothole but the car handles awsome, now i didnt drop it like the honda guys cut springs, it aint that low, but its low, I think you will definatly love it. I also have the RM swaybar which helped very little, but wasnt worth the money. My coil-overs arnt noisy at all, but my strut bearings are gone so I have to replace those this summer, save yourself the trouble, buy the bearings now and get it over with while you pull the originals out anyways. And dont forget to buy motorcycle boots to cover the strut.

Forgot to mention, to adjust height, all you have to do is just jack the car, loosen the allen bolt and turn the perch.

I think you may have gotten the wrong set of AGX's..
I have AGX's on my car now, with a 1.5" drop and I NEVER bottom out. Ride is very nice at low settings, and very stiff at high settings..
My brother has AGX's on his 2G and it rides AWESOME. Perfect stock like ride (or better) and can be made stiff for racing very easily.
Maybe you should check the part number on the shock? Maybe you just got defective ones (it happens).
As for the GC's..
What spring rates does everyone have? Can you describe your experiences (likes/dislikes) about the spring rates you use?
Thanks

Nope, I have AGX's for a 1G AWD, alot of guys dont like AGX's for that reason, they go straight to shock teks, but what can you do, it doesnt help that they are longer than the stockers either, and dropping the car 2 inches makes things worse.

I have a 1g with GC's and KYB's. Same proble here it bottoms out in the front. 1st gen cars have very little suspention travel as it is so lowering them makes the ride suck. With the GC's you can only lower the front 2.5in.
I just ordered caber plates form GC and Knoi adjustable struts shortened 1in. from Road Race Engeneering. This will give me approx. 1.5 - 1.75in more travel. Not to mention I will be able to lower the car about 3.5 in. I'll let you guy know how it works out after I get it set up (2 weeks?? I hope).

How much is this set-up costing you? I like what I hear and sounds like it would give a great ride
Thanks
